Leather seat color dictates amount of new car outgases?

Just anecdotal at the moment, but unfortunately I suffer from chemical sensitivity and it seems black leather seats make the new car smell stronger inside than lighter colored leather.

Sensatec is even worse. All I smell is polyurethane in a (new) sensatec car.

Has this been anyone else's experience over the years?

Thanks!

Can't say I"ve noticed a difference in smell between different colors, or rather, that darker leather has a stronger smell than lighter leather.

I think the type of leather has a bigger impact on smell than the color. For example, the ivory white merino leather in my X5 has a much stronger new car smell than the mocha vernasca leather in my M340i.

Hard to describe - I happen to enjoy that new car/leather smell so for me it's not bad at all. I don't think it's too strong but I may not be as sensitive to it in general.

I didn't notice it with my Nappa. But...then again...I do have constant allergies.

I have severe allergies and have not smelled anything with the black Vernasca leather seats but then again my sense of smell is not good either.

While the seating surface is a contributor, any plastic or rubber will outgas. More surface area of the interior is covered with other plastics and rubbers than the seats.
