BMW Maps: A more relaxing drive with improved RTTI

Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI) from BMW Maps now also processes data from traffic queues on lanes that turn off, enabling you to take the perfect route and predict your precise arrival time.

Lane Departure Warning system - Optimisation on narrow roads

Using a sophisticated detection logic, your vehicle knows when it is located on narrow roads without centre lane markings and actively suppresses steering intervention. This prevents you from, for example, accidentally steering into the centre of the road into oncoming traffic.
This system does not replace your own responsibility to correctlv assess visibility and traffic conditions. There is still a risk that accidents will occur. Adapt vour driving style to traffic conditions. Observe what is going on in traffic and activelv intervene in situations that call for it.

Lane Departure Warning system - optimised for bends

When the BMW Driving Assistant Professional system is in reduced mode, the Lane Departure Warning system detects whenever you purposefully drive near a lane marking, for example on the inside of a bend, and suppresses steering intervention.

Improved driver recognition: start with your profile already loaded

Starting now, your driver profile will automatically load if you do not have your key at hand when you get in, such as when you place your bag on the passenger seat or back row of seats. You no longer have to manually select your profile before you set off.

Improved volume control with Android phones

This improvement makes it easier to control the volume in the vehicle when playing an audio stream (e.g. music, podcasts, etc.) using a smartphone connected via Bluetooth.

Functional updates and improved quality

This Remote Software Upgrade updates existing functions to current technical standards and improves the quality.

Came through to me yesterday as well and going to try and install it to the car in a bit.

My phone downloaded the update, and sent it to the car, uploaded update.
The car tells me I will be notified when update can be installed that was two days ago still waiting.

Highly likely your battery isn’t charged enough. If a battery is below a certain amount it won’t prompt.

Not sure how BMW release it. It’s march 2022 and only now have some people started to get the 07/2021. Yet some people received it last year.

I deleted my user profile from the car, and reloaded it, et voila the update arrived.

Not sure! I think I might have been a bit impatient and set things up myself. It was a bit of a PITA.

So, checked my car yesterday and it told me there is no upgrade available.

Its showing installed version as 07/2021.20.

This seems to be older than this 07/2021.85, correct?

How can I update it?

I'm pretty sure it won't update from one version of 07/2021 to another. I'm in the same position.

It will only update if one of your ECUs has changed from one version to another. Given the multiple variations of options, it's quite common for there to be no changes within the patch versions for a given i-step.

That being said, I know for a fact there are changes from S18A-21-07-520 to S18A-21-07-585 in ECUs every car has, so you should be offered it assuming pre conditions are okay.

In the patch versions, there are only ever 'fixes' for issues, rather than new features. For 'new' things, you'll need 21-11 or 22-03 (I have yet to see anything 'new' in 22-03)

In conclusion, I tale it that there are no upgrades for my specific iDrive/car combination then.

I also checked the maps and those are also not up to date, yet the car said they are. At least with those I managed to download the updates manually on a USB stick.
