Sun visor quality
Recently bought a 2021 m340i to go along with my 2012 e92 m3.
After having the car a few days, I'm a little shocked at how cheap the sun visors are on this car. It almost doesn't make any sense. My other car, an e92 m3 came with vinyl sun visors, but even those felt miles better than the g20 ones. I upgraded the e92 to the euro market fabric sunvisors without the warning stickers, and those feel great. Are there any options for a better sun visor in the g20? For example, are the g80 ones better and cross compatible? Are the euro market ones better? Did certain years of the g20 get better quality sunvisors? |

My 2019 car has the same plastic-feeling sun visors so I think they're characteristic of the model - and I agree, a strange choice given the generally decent quality of the G20's interior plastics.
I have not seen any threads here on whether there may be better quality substitutes available, but others with longer forum membership may be better placed to advise. |

I believe this was mentioned in a thread I've read in the past. Out of curiosity: why do folks care about the quality of the sun visor? Genuine question. I hardly pay any attention to mine; it gets the job done when called for. But then again I'm not as nit-picky especially since it's not in my line of sight 99% of the time.

I can only second zazzau question I would care more about why not a double sunvisor in that price point? It has much more practical convenience than the quality of the material.

I noticed this too when I went from my F30 to my G20. The sun visors and glove box door felt very cheap compared to the F30 despite being about 15k more expensive. Another user in a different post said that it may be due to the interior materials your car has…my F30 had full vernasca leather and the G20 has sensatec. I’m not sure if or why that would change the visors but I havent been in a G20 with full leather so maybe its possible? Either way it is a bit disappointing in quality but Ive had no issues with either in over two years.

Some people get worked up about the quality of plastic on lower door trims and things like that, but those are items I rarely touch and aren't really in my line of sight. |

So after looking into this in further depth today, I realized that the glue has separated from the internal foam from the vinyl outside case. Result is it doesn't feel solid at all. Feels totally different than the passenger side. Previous owner probably left the car in the sun with the visor down.
Had a friend with a g20 check theirs, and when they gave it a squeeze, the glue inside completely failed. It does make me wonder if this issue is more widespread considering my friends experience. Car is still under warranty, so this should be an easy one to address. |
