Comfort Access rear boot opening halfway only

Can't say I'm too impressed with Comfort Access "wave your foot under the bumper to open boot" feature. Not sure if I'm doing it wrong, but seems very temperamental. Often takes 4 or 5 waves before anything happens, and then, occasionally the boot only opens half way and stops.

Anyone else have similar issues/have any tips for improving reliability?

Garage List
Strange
Does it open fully using the fob ?
I don't have comfort access but I like the fact it opens fully and not just unlocks.

Not noticed any.issues when using the key fob, although have used that less than the "foot wavy" feature, as like not having to get keys out of pocket and thought it may be useful.

It's definitely not just unlocking, it starts to open up and gets a good half way before stopping. Unfortunately not open enough to be able to access boot though.

I'll use the fob for time being and see if I have any issues

There is a setting for the height of the boot lid opening. I think it is in doors and locking section.

Don't wave your foot. Try the kick movement instead.
There is no setting for the boot opening hight in G20 model.

ahh. that's really helpful. Thanks. Sure the video I watched as part of the welcome pack said to wave, but I'll give that a go.

Had it on my F31 and now on my G21 and IMO it is ace, love it. Works with the foot stroke perfect once u get the knack!

As others have said, it's an in-out kick movement. If you do a wave it'll start and then stop, giving the half lift you've experienced.

I got caught my this too. There's definitely videos/instructions out there that show a wave. But I soon realised that didn’t work properly so I consulted the manual.

I think this is down to crappy car reviewers who don’t RTFM, wave their foot about several times and then declare the system as useless!

I saw the same with my Audi Q7 and for me it work flawlessly. I’ve had a few times on the the 3 series where it just didn’t work and its when the car has been very dirty, so not sure if the sensor can get blocked. Still works almost every time though.

Same here. Waved my foot back and forth when I first picked the car up with not much happening.

Since finding out it’s more of a kick it hasn’t not opened/closed once.

Yep straight in and out down the middle of the car, once you get the knack, it works every time.
