Be careful applying sealants if you haven't washed the car properly - you run a real risk of embedding contaminants and dirt into the clear coat, which makes doing what you've done pointless anyway.

Spray on sealants only last for 3-4 weeks so wouldn't imagine it should cause any problems.

It will, as it will react with the dirt and make it cling to the paintwork. It's a big no no applying sealants unless the car is properly clean

I would imagine a lot of people who use these products probably don't realise though.

That's very true - it's me just being a little pedantic as I'm into my detailing and would never add a sealant to unprepped, or at the very least properly washed paint.

I wasn't suggesting that you should apply these to a dirty car as you are correct and any sealant or wax should only be applied to clean surfaces.

But spray-on/rinse-off sealants are a bit of short cut to getting a temporary seal on and don't last very long so I'd be surprised if much harm would actually come from applying it to a car that hasn't had the paint clayed and fully decontaminated.

I tried the Autoglym Polar Series at the back end of last year and it's a great system to use once a month or so. But I had already given my car a new car protection detail when it arrived in June and it gets a proper wash every 2 weeks or so.

First up I have to apologise, it seems everytime I get my car looking all shiny it decides to rain for days! I had a bit of spare time yesterday to put all my Geyon products to good use, if anyone is not sure whether to go for bathe or bathe+, definitely go for bathe+. It has vastly improved the beading of water, enhanced the gloss and combined with a finish of wet coat it is working wonders. Once the weather let's up I will get the windows coated and a dry picture of the car.

Upgraded my Karcher at the weekend with a short trigger with quick-release nozzle and a 10m proper hose. Absolute game-changer for the weekly wash and my occasional detailing side-line.

I've just done the same - bought a new pressure washer and got one of the short trigger guns with the quick release system. Yet to try it because of weather, but this weekend is looking promising...aching to give it a try!

Used mine yesterday to do my wife's car and was very impressed. I was using the Autoglym snow foam cannon with the adaptor they supply and it was rubbish so the quick release system is just so much better. And the 10m 'non-plastic' hose is great.

Hi

Does anyone have a recommendation for an alloy wheel cleaner suitable for use on the bi-colour 791M alloys? Just after one that you spray on from a hand pump, leave for 5 mins and rinse.

Any to avoid with this wheel type?

Thanks very much.

I use this, needs agitation after spraying but does a hell of a job👍🏻

Interesting to see the Karcher upgrades - will have to get the shorter nozzle. The hose I find a right pita - it is awkward to move around and get off/put back on the reel. When you say you’ve got a “proper” 10m hose, is it a different hose or just longer? Ta

The steel braided hoses are the best. They do not kink and roll in and out much better. Search Google for one to fit your model of washer.

What did you order? That looks interesting! Unwinding the default one and getting constant kinks is a real pain.

I use CarPro reload as my sealant on top of my ceramic coating. It is also a great drying aid for maintenance washes. IronX is a great wheel cleaner, my wheels are ceramic coated too.

Thanks. Looking at getting a better and longer hose and keep it on a reel in the garage, with the Karcher. The hose at the moment is just ridiculous - it refuses to stay flat/straight.

I used https://www.directhoses.net/collecti...gun-lance-sets

Got a great deal on the short trigger and hose.

As above, rolls out easily and doesn't kink but also longer so don't need to move the pressure washer now.

Hi all

I'm pretty new to this idea of actually cleaning a car. So apologies for novice questions. I have a Karcher K4 (set to medium pressure), a snow foam nozzle and some prokleen snow foam. I tend to spray it on quite thick, using about a litre of foam concentrate in the process. Is that as expected?

Also, directions say to spray on and leave for 5 mins to dwell, but within 3 mins it's pretty much all run off the car. Again, is that normal? Am I doing something wrong or is the prokleen just not up to scratch?

thanks in advance.

A litre is a lot!!!!

I put about an inch of concentrate in the bottle then top up with water. Then spray onto the car. I get at least 2 full cars from a bottle. Leave to dwell for 10 minutes ish but watch out for it drying on the car. I use a detail brush to go round badges and nooks and crannies in that time. Some foams leave more foam others less but should still be cleaning.

Bilt hamber snow foam is a very good one. Not too much foam but cleans well. I tried another one which had loads of foam but didn't clean as well and the foam was still on my drive the next day! Looked like snow!

Maybe that's where I'm going wrong then. I don't top up bottle with water. I assumed the nozzle did that with the water from the washer!!

Was surprised that I got through the concentrate so quickly!

Lol, it does get it to the correct ratio, but need to start lower. Different products vary in the correct mix but some are around1:500!
