If it follows the B58 out of the newest 7 series and X5/7 it will have port injection from the factory. Being that is would be the TU2 of the current motor, it very well could be a 6 port turbo with port injection. The before mentioned B58 in the X5/7 and seven series is not a 6 port turbo.

Wouldn’t say that.
The new B58 from the X5/X7 LCI is a new B58 variation and it has port injection out of the box. But it is still a 2 port turbo. There is a high chance the this motor for the m340 will be a 6 port and include the recent addition of port injection. |

If the motor for the m340 can keep the 6 port turbo and out of the box port injection of the new B58, it would put it on RS3 levels for tuning. The newest B58 in the X5 is still a two port. |

Unlikely to be a 6 port engine if it’s the TU2M2 variant which is 2 port. If it were to be 6 port it would be a different variant, likely an O2 variant, similar to the current O1 variant. Given that the 375 HP is the same as the M2 variant, it’s probably quite literally the same setup as in the X5/X7/7 series.

It is the same exact engine as used in x5/x6/x7 How many times will I have to repeat this before people stop making "educated guesses" here? |

Also I would not put it past BMW to put the B58TU2M2 variant in the 3 series without the transmission mounted mild hybrid setup of the other cars. It seems crazy given I’m not sure if the belt mounted would still be compatible, but also that means there is gonna be a ton of component differences between different market BMW M340i cars, they may not want to further deviate the transmission/drivetrain setup for the US and SK. We have seen BMW do similar things with the N51 for example in the US, but those were pretty small differences. The B58TU1O1 and B58TU2M2 are quite different. |

And when I say "the same engine", it literally means the same engine. The whole damn thing including transmission because it's so tightly integrated. I don't understand why you're still trying to imagine some fantastic Frankenstein monster of a powertrain instead. BMW already makes dozens of engine/transmissions variants of the 3er for different world markets, do you think one more would overfill that cup? |

It’s an engine people understandably have questions to their favorite car. Engines are complicated, and some articles are less than helpful with the new variant tbh. Heck there are articles out there via google of the 01 variant in the G20 LCI erroneously claiming it got the transmission MH setup for the LCI, when it in fact it did not. Also my speculation is warranted for the MH setup because initially the 01 didn’t even get a MH setup and was integrated in later models, with the SAME O1 ENGINE (2021 onwards for the M340i). Now yes the M2 MH setup is more integrated than the O1, so it is likely, and if you have confirmation the transmission MH setup is being carried over as well, then I apologize. Obviously I am not trying to cause an argument, but I’m just saying, that BMW has a history of creating all sorts of variants across the world, and that, in my personal opinion with no evidence, it would not shock me if they created some Frankenstein design, even if the M2 variant is only known to have run in a single config atm. |

Hoping there will be some info soon on the LCI2 330e. Really interested in seeing if they put the Gen 5 hybrid tech in the G20 for more range and more power like they did in the X5 LCI. Now the X5 LCI electric mode feels as quick as the electric mode as my 330e with the big power jump, pretty much compensated for the big weight difference. A ~350hp 330e with 30 mile electric range would be a very tempting upgrade.
