Errr, really! Would you like to borrow my glasses? I know we each see things in different ways, but I'm not sure how you can mistake the G20 for that.

Pretty sure the TSX ended production in 2014.

Looks great. But I do not dig the carbon winglets on the front and those side panels underneath the door.

BMW should be doing something similar to avoid diluting the significance of Motorsport.

So the letter M should be reserved for the actual M cars and the sportier base cars should have a different designation.

For example, 340i S or S340i or etc.
Putting myself in their shoes, I completely understand. The M name has solid brand equity in the automotive space. There is going to be an inherent desire to capitalize on that as much as possible.

Additionally, if you're asking your M division to contribute to building the highest performing non-M variant, why wouldn't you shine a light on this collaboration (no matter how minimal)?

When you consider that the negative opinions of using this brand more broadly probably doesn't result in any appreciable negative impact of true M sales; it's an easy and wise decision.
Oh I understand why they do it, I just don't agree with it and don't think it's a smart move long term. Eventually, they're going to completely dilute the M brand to the point of making it hard to distinguish between a real full blown M car and a bootleg (M-sport base model).

This is going to start impacting their M sales and you can kind of predict that based on comments on this forum. People are already trying to justify spending more for the G80 since the M340 performs well and can be mistaken for an M3 by non-enthusiasts.

Look at the X3M. More people are now leaning towards the X3M40i since they look practically the same and the 40i performs well enough.

Before, there was no mistaking the base E46 and the E46 M3 (same goes for the E92). Now it's just a shit show with all these Base model M cars and their M-Performance parts.

That's why I referred to Porsche. There is no mistaking and no need to convince yourself of why you're spending more for a GT car over the base 911s. Regardless of how you option your base 911 (C, C2S, GTS, etc) Porsche makes sure they limit the options so it does not cross over into GT territory. There's a solid divider there. Not a gray area like what BMW created.

Sounds like you're admitting that it isn't so much the M Performance name being used as much as the styling and performance is encroaching on true M cars. Personally I support that because it means BMW is filling a void in performance.

M Performance Parts for 2020 M340i

Hi - Were these all port-installed options and from BMW parts? Just wondering since I am having trouble finding the mirror caps and the black grill trim. Thanks...

Yeah you're right. I do think the badging plays a part in that too though. You know you have a problem when enthusiasts start having a hard time distinguishing between the MP models and the M models.

BMW is filling a void at a significantly higher cost than before though. They're closing the gap in performance AND pricing.

Is it my just not knowing,$but there's the L/R splitters on the front, but no lip?

Like this one on another thread;

ETA: never mind. I see the full lip on the OP now. At the bmwusa MPerF site, they offer the L/R splitters but I don't see the full lip. Ugh, confused.

Thanks for your reply on this. Americans are so whiny about everything. No manners and trash people. It would be nice if they say nice car, just not what I would buy. It's a messed produced product and if you want to be exclusive, buy a Konesigg and f@#$ off.
