Car play is glitchy in general I find. You can have a trouble free connection for 20 journeys and then on 1 journey your phone disconnects… and has to be manually connected via iDrive by re-selecting the car play option.
Some things to try: - update firmware on your phone - update software on your car - avoid hiding the phone away in a bag full if shopping. Place it on the charging tray if you have one. - avoid too many pairings. It's not a perfect system so might connect to a passenger phone if that phone is present and paired. For example, partner used car play and as you drive away it might still be trying to find their phone.. so you need to select yours. - ensure phone is not running too many processes. If you're rinsing the phone cpu with many background apps then the phone is busy and can cause lag. - similar to hiding the phone away in a pocket. No to a super thick phone cover/case. Try it without a phone case if you have one on. - if your lag is in repeat on every journey then try reset the iDrive. You can do this by pressing and holding down the volume knob until the iDrive screen goes blank! Then reconnect your phone once it has rebooted. That all said, you can do everything right and there might still be occasional lag. Hope that helps in some way. |
