tire size - G26 - square setup - can I run 255 on front??

I am changing my staggered setup on my G26 to a square setup. I am hoping I can run the 255 size all around. Has anyone run 255 on the front of their ride?
Tire info
original : 245/40R19 front /25540R19 rear
wheels are 19x8.5 ET35 front / 19x9 rear ET42

New wheels 19x9 ET25 square
proposed tire: Michelin PS4S 255/40R19 square

will the 255 work on the front without rubbing? Any advice /input from this forum would be greatly appreciated.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 255/40R19, recommended wheel width is 8.5-10". I believe OE BMW 19" wheels are 8". 255-width tire may feel "squirmy" on OE wheels.

255-width will be 5mm wider on the outside and inside. I expect the rear should be fine. The front should be OK, but if will rub inside the fender, it will be very little/rare and only during hard turns.

Thank you for the response - the OEM wheels on my car are 8.5" wide on the front and 9" on the rear. MY new wheels are 9" all the way around. So it sounds like the tires will fit the wheels based on your information - do you think the 9" wide wheels / tires will rub up from then? I was hoping the adjusted offset would prevent rubbing...

Just based off the wheel specs, are these the Apex VS-5RS? I ended up going with 245/40/19 square on my G26, I was afraid of the reports of front rubbing as well. After fitting, I don't see why 255 wouldn't have worked, even at full lock. I think you'll be fine.

The new wheels are Richland Forged GT3R. They are sweet looking! The offset is ET25 so I know that will be helping some with the wider tires and wheels. According to Tire Rack website the current 245 tires are 9.8” wide and the 255s will be 10.2”. And obviously the new wheels are .5” wider the OEM - 9 vs 8.5.
I am hoping I can do the 255’s all the way around like you mentioned, but I definitely want to avoid any rubbing.

Apex has a lengthy fitment guide that indicates 255/35-19 will fit fine on the 9" ET25 wheels: https://apexwheels.com/fitment-guide...guide#overview

Thank you very much - I think I have seen this before but forgot about it - it was very helpful! I see they are recommending 35's...I wonder why....the car came with 40's and definitely do not want to go shorter. I sent Apex an email asking them if they think the 40's would work as well. My new wheels are very similar to the VS-5RS wheel - same ET25 and 19x9 size. I may end up just doing 245/40 19 all the way around...but really want to go 255.

The 255/35-19 is almost exactly the same diameter as the stock front 225/40-19 (they have the same sidewall height -- remember that you have to multiply the section width (i.e. 255) times the sidewall series (0.35) to get the sidewall height. That's why the rear tires on staggered factory setups is the 255/35 and the fronts are still 225/40 and why Apex is recommending them.

Note that OP has a GC G26 that (for some reason) the delivered size is taller:
"original : 245/40R19 front /25540R19 rear"
I don't know if the actual rolling circumference is as much as the 1.2% which the tire sizes suggest. But a squared setup should be "safe" anyway.

Ah good point! I was thinking in M340i terms...

I have the ZTK track pkg (bigger brakes/rotors, extra cooler, bigger fan motor, staggered wheels etc) on my car which came with the aforementioned sizes. You could choose the wheel style, but the sizes were set when you chose the ZTK option. I like the staggered setup, but I commute and really want to rotate my tires - I will also say the Pzeros on the car are a terrible water tire and with all the rain we have had in SoCal lately, I have had a couple of hydroplane moments that were not so fun. I am looking forward to the new wheels and some new rubber.
