Rear windscreen elements

Mr jack frost visited this morning, after switching on the rear screen defrost i noticed that the top section wasn't being heated.

Is this normal? Trying to remember if my previous f30's done this? Seems odd as brake light is not cleared.

On inspection of the element there does seem to be a couple of gaps in a couple of the horizontal elements

Same as mine, too two elements never de mist when steamed up. Assumed it was deliberate as opposed to a failt

I think you'll find the top few rows are the FM/DAB aerial unless it's different to the F30

I am sure top ones are for aerials and stuff like that

What does the shark fin actually do then? I always assumed it contained the radio antenna

Pretty sure it's the GPS antenna.

Thats my understanding also. There are so many things that need aerials of various types, some are in the shark fin other are in the rear glass.....
