Hi there,

as already discussed in other threads i had the opportunity to download the data of a G20 LCI EU spec.
I already had the data of a G80 and G82 EU spec and will share them aswell.

Some context for this.
BMW seems to made some difference between the EU and some US spec car regarding the Welcome Light or headlight animation when unlocking.

The G20 PreLCI can only control both DRLs as a pair while the G80 and G20 LCI can control them individually.
This was a side effect of developing the turn signal into the tubes of the headlight instead of having a separate turn signal above the tubes.
This side effect was used for the nice animation we know from the G20 LCI EU spec.

Now comes the good news, it´s not hard coded into the software!
You can code this with E-Sys.
I´m not sure about Bimmercode or other solutions, as you need to paste the data into the FLM2 ECUs.

As you can see the animation is pretty boring and only needs a third of the first data field.

You can see that my PreLCI isn´t able to show the animation correctly, because the headlights weren´t made for this fast transition and they don´t share a common tact.
But this data should work for the G20 LCI US spec!
I would highly appreciate if someone could provide me the original G20 LCI US spec data.

The G80/G82 EU spec animation is identical and takes up almost the complete data fields.
This would be another option for the G20 LCI US spec drivers.

The next step would be an analyses of the data and how the animation is made.
Maybe we could write our own headlight animations?

Any idea what the difference is between Staging1_Data and Staging2_Data? Converted the "BMW G21 PreLCI Welcome Light" to decimal to see if anyone can figure out any correlation to the animation. I'm assuming it's some variation to determine brightness and timing.

Difference?
That´s just two data fields because one wasn´t enough :-)
They´re both for the welcome light animation.
While the G20 PreLCI is pretty short, the G20 LCI and G80 are very long and just need more space.

You can see that there are multiple sequences and it´s counting up.
But they´re not the same length...
I´m still trying to figure out what the sequence contains.
There needs to be some type of mapping to the actual lights of the headlights.

I can only guess why it´s not working for you.
Have you checked the settings in your iDrive?
I´m not sure if there´s a setting for the Welcome Light.
Another idea would be it´s not dark enough.

Yes in the iDrive everything is good, impossible to understand why the lasers do not turn on... And in the BDC or FLM2, nothing that corresponds to the ignition of the laser in welcome light ...

Do other cars made for Belguim have Welcome Light or is there some law that doesn´t allow this?

Thank you for sharing! Can you check if the Staging 1 and 2 data are different between left and right FLM modules? I copied the EU G20 LCI staging data into both FLM and both front lights 'flash' at the same time rather than 'sweeping' from left to right. I suspect the data in the left and right FLM modules are timed differently to give the sweeping effect.

No, i only got one side because i made the backup with EsysUltra and it´s only saving one side because the ECU has the same CAFD ID...

I tried to calculate the coding by EsysUltra calculates the same values for both FLM2 ECUs.
I´m near the owner next tuesday and maybe get the chance to backup the coding again.

Played around with this earlier today with the ECE typschlussel, 41FF for LCI M340iX sedan according to ISTA+. You are right - the cafd is the same between both FLM modules and there does not appear to be any difference in the coding between them.

Coding the FLM modules with ECE type triggers lowbeam errors unlike pre-LCI.

As mentioned earlier using the Staging data from the original post makes both lights do the flashing animation concurrently rather than 'sweeping' from side to side. The goodbye/lock animation doesn't change from the US version btw, not sure if this is correct or if there is another line that needs to be changed.

The amber sidemarkers flicker during the animation as well. I guess it would be better if I can figure out how to turn them off. Based on the coding it looks like it might be LM01 or LM11?

I've attached the ncd compare, maybe you can make better sense of it than me. NCD1 is coding based on US FA (with 5AP deleted), NCD2 is ECE.

As mentioned earlier using the Staging data from the original post makes both lights do the flashing animation concurrently rather than 'sweeping' from side to side. The goodbye/lock animation doesn't change from the US version btw, not sure if this is correct or if there is another line that needs to be changed.

I've attached the ncd compare, maybe you can make better sense of it than me. NCD1 is coding based on US FA (with 5AP deleted), NCD2 is ECE.

Both tubes are properly individually addressed but the animation goes from 'inside out' rather than 'left to right' if that makes sense.

Thanks for the work you're doing here, MichaelNRW ! Hopefully you're able to figure it out. Still looks cool "inside out" though. Curious why it'd be different on US models.....makes no sense to me, it's just an animation.

I‘ll meet the G20 LCI owner on tuesday and share the ncd afterwards.
Let‘s see if it‘s the same for both sides or if there‘s another value that controls the animation timing.

I´ve got bad news...
I´ve met the G20 LCI owner again and read out the coding data of both FLM2 one by one.
They´re the same!
So there needs to be something else that tells the headlights which side starts the animation.
