Even if all current top 4 lose, there's still GA, MIA, OSU and Alabama, not to mention a 2-loss Clemson the committee seems to love and TCU that beat OK.
I agree, USC is definitely not in favor and virtually have nothing to hang their hat on.

The nighmare situation for all other teams would be a Clemson loss. Bc Clemson would have the best quality win out of anyone. This is the only situation where I can see the committee putting 2 teams from the same conference in. Which means, Ohio State champion is out, and all others between 5-10 are all out.
A Clemson loss would definitely not be a nightmare to me.

1. You're simply comparing losses. The reality is, you balance the losses with the quality of wins and this year's committee especially has put more emphasis on the quality of wins.

Ohio State's quality wins are against a 2-loss Penn State, 3-loss Mich State, and if they win a 1-loss Wisconsin
Bama's quality wins are against a 3-loss LSU and a 4-loss Miss State. That's it.
USC's quality wins are against a 2-loss (or 3-loss) Stanford team, twice.

Then you add the aspect of a conference championship, and discount it against the quality of the losses.

2. The second flaw is, everyone compares Ohio State in a vacuum. That is you're comparing Ohio State against themselves and on a conceptual idea of "do they deserve it?". You have to compare Ohio State against the other contestants for the 4th spot.

When you look at Bama, USC, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Miami, Ohio State doesn't look so bad when you look at wins and losses.

3. There's the subjective eyeball test. It's akin to say, have UCF play Bama. You can't honestly say that the quality of play of UCF is comparable or better than Bama. It doesn't matter Bama is a 1-loss non-champion, Bama is clearly the better team. The committee has always put more weight on the final games of the season and the quality of those wins. That's why Ohio State got in back in 2014, they won and won big in all their final 4 games of conference play.

4. There's a flawed assumption that the committee is bound by ANY type of consistency across the years or within the same year. Sure, as pundits, we all want to use some base to make an opinion or estimate on the outcome, but the reality is, we created this committee to allow subjectivity back into the championship. If you hate subjectivity, then you just need a computer model. The computer model today (at least ESPN's) has Bama at #1 and Ohio State at #2.
Hope they show up this year in first round. They will be playing Clemson again if you are right. We all know what happened last year...31-0.

Never paid much attention to Wisconsin, what a powderpuff schedule. Their only win over a rank opponent is #21 Northwestern.

Surprised the spread is only 6.

Understandable after last week's performance + 2 more key injuries on offense. However, it's college football where anything can happen and this team seems to play far better as underdog than favorite.

The turnover chain will need to make an appearance 2 or 3 times to make a game of it.

No doubt. They need to play liked they played against Va Tech and Notre Dame, get the chain out to get in Clemson QB's head and do something productive with the ball when they get it. Missing best 3 offensive players at RB, WR and TE provides opportunities for others, including some key freshmen, to step up to show what they can do. Good or bad, whatever happened before this Saturday no longer matters, so they either show up for the game and be the better team or go home.

Jimbo leaving FSU looking more real by the day. I thought he might be holding out for money / facilities but now sounds like FSU is telling him to make a decision ASAP:

http://www.espn.com/college-football...-coach-loyalty

Please send some additional recruits south to Miami....

Quite an unfortunate situation for us. Never wanted to see Jimbo leave but as the days go by and more rumors swirl it is getting tough to see our program being held in jeopardy. Loosing a trio of blue chip recruits yesterday made our fate more real.

Jimbo needs to decide ASAP so we can implement damage control and have other options before it's too late. As of now I think Willie Taggart, Justin Fuente or Charlie Strong are considerations.

All this drama reminds me when LeBron left Miami.

We've lost coaches we wanted to lose (Shannon, Golden) and that we hated losing but left for other opportunities (Jimmy Johnson, Butch Davis). It is a huge disruption for the program because most assistants usually turn over too and recruiting becomes a free for all. Then you don't know whether the new guy will work out. Coker to Shannon to Golden was like circling a drain. Golden to Richt seems great, at least so far. Most people don't understand the value of keeping a HC long-term. FSUs last transition worked really well because Jimbo was already there. If he leaves, this one will be bumpier and other schools will capitalize on recruiting impact for at least this year.

All that said, Fuente would probably be my choice out of that group. Of course if FSU let a UM alum make choices that would only make matters worse.

Neither one stands out more than the other for me but I am not looking at any statistical analysis. I think Fuente has a more winning record overall, but being that Taggart has home town roots in the Bradenton/Tampa/Orlando area can prove to help our recruiting chances overall in those hot areas.

Jimbo gone. Pic of the family Christmas tree out by the curb was funny. Well, maybe not to some.

Ha, maybe if we are looking to hire the town whore. Some wild card options like Lane Kiffin or Scott Frost could be interesting.

Kiffin is toxic and I would be surprised if Frost wasn't already committed to Nebraska. Maybe I'll be surprised like I was by Jimbo.

I think FSU needs a head coach with head coaching experience, so I'd also be surprised if they hired a high profile OC or DC as head coach. They should have plenty of $$$ to pay someone. There may also be some candidates in NFL or media, although none come to mind right now.
