It's always a bad sign when you have to defend your design. Design/style is very subjective and if people hate it, nothing you say will make a difference. Either BMW will backtrack on launch or you'll see an LCI that walks the design back just like the E65 LCI fixed the Bangle butt.

My statement from the other thread:

Every interview(er) will undoubtedly ask, "Why?", along with the expected supplemental questions.

Seems like BMW has to do too much defending today, 1st they have one guy defend the steering, then they have one guy yell about how everyone complains about the 3 series' loosing its sports credentials, and now they're defending the 4 series design. One would think they are clearly missing the mark if this is the third time they have to defend their choices within 1 year

Simply timeless and still looks fresh on the road today. I just saw one again today and got a half-chubby. The tail lights, the stance, the proportions, the side profile, the dual exhaust pipes... I need to stop. I would go so far as to say it still looks better than the newer 4-series version it was replaced with.
My feelings exactly, E93 looks better than the F33 and also handles better and is more connected to the road.

December 30, 2019 - G23 Drops Major Camo.

Most revealing look at the G23 4 Series Convertible yet. And yes, underneath the fake grille shapes in the front camouflage, you can see the large upright kidney grilles.

BMW 4 Series Convertible (G23) Drops More Camo

Hmm - looks like there is still room between the grill and the headlight to give it an even bigger grill when a facelift is due.

BMW apologists explaining the new 7 Series' oversized grille: "It helps differentiate the 7 Series from lesser models."

Still not sure that kidney grill will be as we assume. At least they will be splited by the licence plate holder. Can't wait to see final result.

Only reservation I have with the grille is the final shape. I liked the concept because it was squared and fit the design of the concept. With the production grilles, it seems like the grille is tapered towards the bottom so it looks like a heart

BMW release the 4 Series already!

As a New Englander and someone that has owned a convertible since the 90s, I really love the year round viability that the hard top provides. It's perfect for cold winters and IMO is better at keeping the cabin quiet in heavy rain. I didn't buy an M car and have no delusions about my 440 being a race car so for me I will always prefer the hard top over the weight savings. As much as I dislike the direction BMW is taking with their grills I am far more upset about the loss of the hard top.

Can some after market company comes up with the split design for the coupe? Not a big fan of the big kidney grille.

Conversely, it actually makes me consider one again. Living in the sun belt, a device that will eat 85% of my trunk space the 75-85% of year that it's down just doesn't appeal to me. I've had numerous convertibles and leave the top down the great majority of the year.

Style is obviously subjective, but my eyes have yet to see a four seat folding hardtop that doesn't look awkward. Soft tops just look better on four seaters. Hardtops look great on mid engine cars where the roof assembly is tiny, but look odd over larger spaces. To my eyes, of course.

Another personal advantage is that I have a dog who likes to put her head out of the window and a kid, so I need a back seat and rear windows that open. Coupes no longer have opening rear windows, but most convertibles still do.

Yes, they do look like different grill shapes. The most recent looks rounder on the upper corners. Unless it's just the camo under the camo covering the real grill shape. Looks somewhat wider too, but that could just be the angle.

Lol, I cannot wait for BMW to take a bath on sales of the 4 series and M3/M4. This thing looks awful.
