Speaking of corners, any decent roads in the area? Most of metro Detroit roads are straight and resemble the moon.

So much hate, just relax

Thanks for taking the time to do the render - I think we are going to be in for a real treat with the new 3!

Does anyone else think the side profile looks a lot like a C-Class, especially from front offset view?

I'm really not digging the two air intakes on the outer ends of the front bumper which look out of place.

As for the rear, it's what everyone else already said, looks a lot like an IS which is neither good or bad, just not original.

Again, just a render so hopefully the real deal will look not quite like this.

There may be some question to the front and rear end (which draws the most attention) but it looks as if they are keeping a very sleek and clean side profile (doors, fenders, etc) and I love the way it looks. It will be a beautiful car I believe/hope !

Not sure why I'm here anymore. The 3/4 series is gigantic. Thing is almost the size of an early 2000 7 series.

Idk whats wrong with me, but I do actually like these renders (and spy shots as well) and still absolutely love my f30, despite all it's weak points. And the e90 was very good, no doubt. I think every 3-series is relevant to its time and it is almost pointless to compare them between each other. As others stated, the 3-er is the model BMW can't go wrong with, the car will 100% be relevant to it's time and competitors.

Thanks for your comment. I was wondering this same thing months ago. I actually found a really cool road going north into Holly. It's called Harvey Lake Rd, and it's turns into Milford Rd going north. It goes all the way into Holly. I 100% recommend it. Great corners, scenery, and elevation changes. I wish it were longer! If you go towards Ann Arbor, there's a cool loop that Car And Driver uses. Look up "great roads around se Michigan" and there's a link that comes up from 247Sports. One of the comments has a link to the loop. Car and Driver keeps it secretive, but apparently this person found it. I tried it a few weeks ago, and it was awesome. Just be careful because the area is teeming with police. I actually got my first ticket in this area a few months ago in a Chevy SS. Anyway, good luck

Toyota really has nothing to do with the new z4 mainly sharing chassis and such, so it’s on bmw if it’s a failure of a design or execution. We shall see

The Alfa Romeo is the only one I like from a design and driving stand point right now

If this preview is anything like the actual car, it is really disappointing BMW...

It shape looks like they trying to make it look like the C Class.

Isn't the F30 almost 20 inches shorter than a 2000s 7 series? And thanks for the generic statement of throwing shade.

I'm joking man. I know it's not as big as an old 7er. The wife and I have had 2 F30's and an F82 M4 as well as a shit ton of other BMW's. I know the score.

The regular 3 series isn't for the enthusiast anymore. It's just getting way to big.

I see an ///M2 comp for me and an Audi RS3 for the wifey in the future.

I guess I'm in the minority but I like this design. The only things that jump out at me as questionable is that big hole in the bottom grille for what I assume is the cruise control and the potentially fake exhaust tips. Outside of that I find it to look more aggressive than the F30 and more cohesive than the 2 series. Then again I also find the new 5 series a little too boring looking compared to the previous gen so my tastes may be different.

The E46 was on my opinion the best design and never seems to age. I like the kink in the front lights as a homage to that series.

I agree I really like the headlights as a modern interpretation of the e46 headlight design. In fact the whole car looks elegant and looks like it may outelegant the C class which is what needed right now. The major drawback here is that the car looks to be too big which ruins the car, No matter what it looks like.

We are entering the Lexus situation in which they had the same problem and solved it with both an is and es line of cars, which were similar in size but drastically different in character.

We seem to need something similar now as the 3 series will be too large. If we do get some form of 2 series sedan to help create a BMW version of the Lexus conundrum, then the fame of the 3 series as the "jack of all trades" will come to an end. The 3 series will become more generic and less well known. It will become just another car. Like the Lexus ES.

Shame
