There's quite a bit of detail behind the mesh if you play around with the image - you can definitely see the outline of the grill and how it cloesely matches the consept. Looks a tad bit more rounded around the corners to me and will likely have a pretruded nose like the concept as well.

I see it very much like a 2020 M135i face with it's grill elongated vertically... with a wider track of course

Yes great work. You can certainly see the actual implementation of the Grille matching to the concept.

Has everybody got over it now? It has been 7 days....

They're getting there SCOTT26. Slowly but surely. There are still a few holdouts stubbornly adhering to the, "It's going to look like the G20. Don't worry!", prediction, but most of us have accepted it.......like it or not. It has admittedly grown on me more and more.

How are you determining that it "backfired" when the car isn't even available to the public yet (...and sales success is yet to be determined)? Aren't you putting the cart wayyyyyyyyyy before the horse?

Well I'm not particularly talking about sales. Just saying design wise, it's a large step backwards. I must say tho the rest of the car looks great going off the concept. But the front is unforgivably bad imo

The grille for the i4 will be the same except it will be sealed like the i3,i8 and iNext.

Hey SCOTT26,

Is it likely that the black-green color described to you is Isle of Man Green?

How fucking hard can it be? We want a Gran Coupe (like 6GC, 8GC and the "i4-Concept") that is a real sleek 4-door coupe, not an "Gran Turismo" bulky 5-door hatchback renamed as Gran Coupe.

I've noticed that the test mules have much more rounded grilles than the concept too. Too bad because I really like the sharper polygonal look of the concept. Hopefully they keep the depth of the concept's grille though, but that's looking a bit iffy too.

It would seem that the shape of the grilles we've been seeing on the camouflaged cars on transport trucks and on the road are closer to the renders than the Concept.

I would also say to remember the concept photos that were shot by hand have an awful perspective lens.... if you look at the official bmw photos (some of the ones on insta or web) the perspective looks much more like the renderings... the "in person" photo gallery images in post 1 are all over zoomed and widen the grills more than they are.

That said the concept probably over emphasized as well to drive the message home

Will the camo be an option to cover the ugly front? Lol

It actually looks better for some reason. Looks different from the concept. Less sharper corners and more rounded. Hopefully they lessen the size of the grill.

When it says debut in 2021, I'm not sure if that means it'll be out mid 2020 as a 2021 model year, or if it means actually on sale in 2021. But, if the latter, what the heck takes so long? I mean these mules look damn near done. I know its a lot of work, but does it really take an additional 1.5+ years at this point in development to make it to market? Jeez.

My lease on my F80 is up in Sept 2020... just keeping an idea on what my options are at that time... and it looks like no G80, no G22, nothing will be out by then.

Anyway if that concept grille makes it to production I'm good anyway. I've not warmed up to it yet. On the other hand maybe the grille only goes to the coupe and grand coupes and the G80 will be spared.
