Bingo
In fact, I think the photoshops are quite close (...if not spot on), and Jason knows about the design as well. I think that thread was strategic. It was designed to take all of the initial shock and awe out of the new front end design so that when we finally.......officially.......see it, we've warmed up to it already and can focus on other aspects of the car. SCOTT26 already eluded to this process. It happened to him in his, "WTF?", moment........which occurred before we were made privy to such a major change in BMW's design language. According to him he has warmed up to it. BMW is hoping that the rest of us do too.

Your point is well taken and this is a guy who has owned 6 M3/M4 products as well as 1 and 2 series cars and other small fast cars. My F80 m3 comp went away for the F86, not because I can't fit the F80 into my lifestyle, but because the F86 better accommodates long trip travel now that I don't have two cars in the garage (so again, your point is well taken). I try to do my part to feed and nourish the sports car market and likely will be in a G80 in a year or two (the G80 isn't a 991, but still somewhat of a sports car in my opinion). As for Porsche, I am in Florida where it seems everyone driving the 991 is over the age of 60.....

Scratch our heads as in, if we wanted a car that looked like an Audi, y not just go buy an Audi? I hope those bars arent horizontal, M cars need somethin more sporty/aggressive.

Oh well, the wait continues ...

I was at the Nurburgring yesterday and afterwards paid the BMW Test Center a short visit - they drove past me with two G80 M3 prototypes, so they're still working on it. One had black exhaust tips, the other had silver/steel just like the CS. Unfortunately they drove one into the garage right away and the other was parked the way it shows on the photo...I bet that was on purpose

Both cars still have the regular (non M) mirrors. Also, the M specific bumper is still missing, this one seems to be a regular G20 bumper, judging from the gaps to the rear fenders.

So I guess they are still testing different drivetrains for these. We'll see in a short time (September, isn't it?)

I honestly think the rear of the G20 is its best view I hope they don't make the G80 too busy back there w/ fake vents and funky creases but I think the rear with those lights, the typical M3 spaced exhaust tips (hopefully no ball sac muffler) and a wide stance will look great.

It's just crazy how many OEMs struggle to make a vehicle where the front AND back both look great. Especially on sports cars, they tend to throw a bunch of money making one end look aggressive and the opposite end is a dud. Looks like we'll be on the coat tails of Alfa Romeo with an awesome rear end but a...."polarizing" front.

Maybe BMW will sell the G80 with an optional 'Camo package' for those who hate the new 'design language'?

I think they'll be bigger than the 7 or X7!

Along with the grills, the whole car looks big. More of a luxury sedan than a sports car.

It is like an older M5, which is pretty sweet.....but for those that don’t need the space, or just want a smaller car look elsewhere. I love 4door sporty cars, a G80 wagon or sedan is very appealing, but I use the backseats often and have other cars for Broads.

I loved my F80, largely because it was so practical, but was till fun to drive, took my wife and three kids on road trips all the time.

Adjust sizing to reflect M’s forms past to present.

In today's world, 2 is the new 3 if you know what I mean.

Sorry but just NO it was not. The B7 was an uber luxury, powerful heavy car with atrocious turbo lag, slow steering and numb handling.
Absolutely nothing about it said M. It was the anti thesis of everything M in terms of driving dynamics. Never mistake an Alpina for an M they are polar opposite of type of cars which I guess is the whole point and why they can co-exist with BMW’s blessing. I literally hate how Alpinas drive while M cars is right down my alley. People who like the exclusiveness of M cars and their power and speed but think they are too hard-core for their liking are the perfect Alpina customers. They compliment each other but are not substitutes.

Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I guess I should've been more specific: The B7 was close enough.....for BMW!!! Obviously, otherwise they would've produced an ///M7 right alongside it just as we had ///M3's alongside B3's.

Sorry didn’t mean to get personal, just needed to clear up that up
I rather think BMW understand that the 7 is just too big and cater to a market that is more than happy with the power of the 760 and aren’t looking for an M type of car and to slap an M badge on a soft car just isn’t worth the dilution of the brand. Keep this comment in mind and show it in my face when an X7M make debut
