Aside from the grill I do like the G22 better seeing them side by side.

Probably the biggest year to year improvement in 3 series history, since the transitions from E36 to E46.

In my opinion, the F32 looks athletic whereas the G22 Lexus Infiniti A5 looks a bit bloated.

One looks like a BMW with classical BMW elements.
The other does not. |

F32 still looks good.
Lots of people are automatically drawn to anything new. Even if new doesn't always mean better. In this case, at least aesthetically, not better. More ostentatious and brash yes, better and more elegant no. |

I hear that some love to make drastic changes, but I'm more traditional. Here's how I would have done it. Give or take.

So much potential... Such a huge miss.
This only improved in the rear. The rear decklid, taillights and muscular rear wheel haunches are really good.
Other than than, the side profile is bland and slabsided. Too bad we lost that gorgeous peaking shoulder line that used to run across the entire side of BMWs. The kink is just not there; Hoffmeister must be turning in his grave. And the grille is still HIDEOUS. The front fascia is even worse in non-M models. It might drive great, but it doesn't look like a BMW. |
