Display Screen Stays On

Normally I pull into the garage, turn the car off, leave key in the car and get out while leaving the doors unlock.

New M340 and I just noticed that the idrive and dash screen was still on about 20 minutes after getting out and closing the door. My phone also shows that car play is still active even though it’s not in the csr.

I took the key out and they are still one.

When I lock the car with the key the screens turn off.

My F30 kept the screen on and radio going after the car was off but they all stopped when I opened the door.

Is there a setting I missing somewhere?

This would go without saying except that I'm saying it... You are pushing the on/off button twice to turn the engine and electronic stuff off?

Um no. Push it once to turn the car off. But I did find a setting to “turn off vehicle after opening door” so it seems to be working now.

Maybe I had the F30 coded to do the same and am just use to doing it this way? Do you normally push twice?

Gotta push it twice to turn it completely off.

No that’s for f generation cars g series you either need to lock the door or press the volume knob for 3-4 seconds

This can be set via I drive. Not sure what menu. But it is something like 'switch off car when open doors'. Off course only after you pushed start-engine-stop switch and car is in P and e-brake activated.

iDrive Settings:

"CAR"
"Settings"
"Doors/Access"
"Turn off vehicle after opening door"

Again, I must of had this coded in my F30 which I had for about 8 years so I didn't even give it a second thought when getting out after my first drive.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I assumed that the G series shut off like the F series. I should be picking up an M340i either this afternoon or on Monday.

OK, so I figured out everything turning off when getting out of the car. Now, every time I just open the door to grab something the displays light up - which is fine but they stay on until I push and hold the radio on/off button.

Is this normal too?

Haven't tried. But i'm pretty sure it will switch after a few minutes if you don't start the car or have any other activities.

I thought so too but last night it was still on after 20 minutes of no activity.

Manual says after a few minutes of no activity, or low bat in standby, rest state will be activated.

20 minutes is kinda long.

hmm. My phone came with into the house with me and I noticed that it was still connected to the car so I'm wondering if that's what stopped it from going into what they call "idle state"
