This forum is amazing, and I am happy to be joining the BMW community! Thank you again for helping me survive the last 7 weeks while waiting for the car! lol
We are in the same boat. I have ordered mine on 9/12 and was in Ready for Transport for 3 weeks. But finally my car is also on the same boat as yours Grand Champion. I have called the Genius and they provided me the Bill of Landing number to track. I just don't see a specific site to track that. But all I heard from her was ship will arrive on 31st Oct. Hopefully no delays, can't wait

This is very sad but true, sales here are just too lazy or like you said, the system is not so transparent somehow.

Yesterday when I saw the info, I told another friend who also ordered a M340i back in Aug. He then turned to his sales and ask if VIN is available, Sales: we just got the VIN today! (Turned out the vessel that might be shipping our cars is called Hoegh Osaka which is expected to arrive Taiwan on Nov 11.)

On the other hand, my sales is still scratching his head I guess...let's see if I can get my VIN soon.

I don't think their tracking status page is working, at least not for me. Did you use this link: https://sallaumlines.com

There is an area to enter you VIN, but it doesn't give me a result.

Weird - usually they will release and show the VIN in their system when the car enters production. From then it's about 3 weeks to get on a ship.

Hoegh Osaka - looks like it's almost out of the Red Sea. Interestingly enough, the Hoegh Osaka nearly capsized back in 2015. Looks like they got it back up and running again!

Customer Relations told me last night that my car should be at the dealership tomorrow. I just emailed my CA and asked him to let me know as soon as the transport arrives so I can drive over to at least see the car.

Hoping Monday is a realistic day to get the car home, if so.

Wow, I simply cannot believe the ordeal and delay they have put you through! My car was ordered and built later than yours, and I have a bunch of port installed options being installed, and my car is scheduled to be at the dealer on Monday, with tentative delivery on Tuesday. (Knock on wood...)

Regardless, congrats, you'll have it soon!

This waiting is insanity.

My car hit the port sunday this past week and its still not in. Was hoping to have it today, but thats not looking promising. Genius line says its "supposed" to be delivered tomorrow (Saturday). I am starting to lose faith in their estimating system.

Right?!?!

Their tracking is all over the place, because I just checked again and according to the BMW site > My Garage, my car is now....

Might go take a drive there and see if I can check it out in person. Assuming it's actually there, of course.

I ordered a 21 that's in transit currently. Does in Transit mean it's on a truck to the dealer? It skipped a bunch of steps to in transit. So it's already past the port? I had a front lip and side skirts to be installed. The whole process so far has only been 4 weeks! Is this accurate? Is it because I'm in California and Mexico isn't so far so it doesn't require the same type of transport? I can't imagine them needing to Ship the car when it can be driven or brought by land via train or Truck?

Cars destined to California are still sent via ship; they need to be processed through a VPC, which, for you, is most likely located at Port Hueneme. In transit can mean it is on a ship, or it could be on a carrier from the port to your dealer; you can call the BMW Genius hotline and press 0 to speak to an operator. Ask them for additional details.

I was curious how a car going to CA works. You can call the BMW Genius line and they can tell you what is happening. The tracker is tough to take seriously, as my car is on a ship but it says it is In Transit. Basically went from Ready to Transport to In Transit in a few hours. I think that cars going to CA go by rail to a port in Mexico, then by ship to Port Hueneme in Oxnard? Maybe somebody who has a Mexico build in CA can confirm the route.

Ignore, another person answered while I was typing.

Just called again and still no ship assignment...

Has anyone else with a car shipping out of Germany heard anything? Mine will be going into week 3 of waiting at the port soon.

I'll have to call back Monday since they close early on Friday. Nobody was there to speak with. It's already past the waiting for carrier, at the port etc so It must be on the way to the dealer and not on a ship.

Weird - I was at the port for maybe 2-3 days before getting loaded on a ship. Mine wasn't going to North America though, so maybe there are just fewer ships going to NA?

So some good news, some bad news. Opposite of how I usually do it, I'll start with the good. The car has ARRIVED....FINALLY....AFTER 4.5 months!!!!

BUT..................

I can't drive it home for another week or so, until they can get it registered for me. Not sure why it can't be done sooner, but I assume it's related to COVID and the turnaround time with the MA RMV.

As soon as I saw the update on the BMW site > My Garage that the car was at the dealership, I asked my CA if I could at least swing by and see the car in person. He had the day off, but he arranged it so the car would be waiting out front for me. And man, my jaw almost dropped when I finally saw it for the first time:

They LISTENED!

I had been told on Friday that I should be able to drive the car home on Saturday, but evidently there was some confusion on the dealership's end in terms of transferring plates from my leased Accord to the M340i. And turns out, it can't be done.

So here I am, yet again, WAITING. At least it's here and I should be driving it within the week. SHOULD. But the way all this BS has gone up to this point, I wouldn't be shocked if there was some other hiccup along the way. Because #2020.

(I have a ton more photos of it, but I'll save those for the proper "Introduction" thread once I get that started)

Congrats!! Love the cognac interior!! I was too chicken to order cognac but I gotta say, it looks great!
Hope the DMV drama can be worked out in a day or two instead of a week. A week seems insane...
