They should either have kept a classical slat design with black or Cerium Grey vertical slats inside the Cerium Grey outline, or went all the way through to a clean black mesh design inside the Cerium Grey outline, but they tried to visually mix both solutions and the result looks half-assed and nowhere as well suited to the 3er as it is to the more light-hearted Z4.
First order of business for me is to black out all the Cerium Grey Parts; grilles, mirror housings, tailpipe outlets, etc..

Solid overall. I've not been keeping op with G20 news, but...no MT option? 19 years after I bought my first BMW, a 1999 E39 528i, simply because it was the only sedan in its class with a MT, I admit that I am saddened by this inevitable development.

Might be faster in a straight line, but does this beat the current car at the nuremburg? Judging by the weight gain it may not be a better performer all around.

Whoa !?!? That is some great numbers, if the existing M3/4 is 0.7 seconds faster than the present M340i, what is the new M3/4 going to do? It seems it would have to be an AWD because to get 0.5-0.7 seconds better than the new M340i puts acceleration into the low 3's, therefore traction will be a huge issue.

I really like the new front grill and the narrow rear lights, very nice! I was thinking of getting a F80 to replace my 335i, but this may change things a bit.
Exactly. BMW said no AWD on G80 but I think that's a mistake. We have seen there really is a traction limit on these cars and AWD allows them to fly by it. Look what it did to new M5 and the numbers the Alfa Stelvio Quad and Merc GLC AMG are putting down (0-60 3.3) no way BMW will break 3.6 with RWD. So if it's still 3.7-3.8 and M340i is 4.2 for $15k less they might lose a lot of buyers. Especially when on the street (and maybe even track) same cost SUVs are out performing M3/M4 (maybe even X3M)
Bmw has not said or leaked no AWD on the G80. In fact our resident insider has indicated that they have been testing different product strategies like:
Base M3 rwd
Base M3 awd
M3 comp rwd
Etc

But no final choices have been confirmed

I'm glad that they finally made enough changes to the top of the line model to differentiate it from the lower models. These top of the line 3 series are getting closer and closer to M territory. I guess that's why they have the "M" badge now.

Oh yes it will be. Nurnburgring is a power track favoring big hp in otherwise reasonably similar cars as these two.

love the interiors on these new BMWs. A reason for upgrading.

If the driving improved as much as it did on F10 to G30, I am really interested. The issue with F30 right now is it is so cheap inside its not even funny. The plastic cabin is crap. If the new one stepped it up, then I might look into that - not G30 which is huge but i know for sure is accomplished and drives very well. But looks terrible from the front for my taste.

I am just not wowed by the 3 series anymore like I was with the e46 and e9x. I do like the seats though and that the screen looks more integrated.

Also I can't wait until later 2019 when this forum will be the owners only forum. The people complaining and who will never buy one will have emptied out by then.
In that case, this forum won't be for real bmw enthusiasts anymore either! The only guys sweating this stuff are guys that lease cars, mod then give en back! Is anybody really buying cars these days???

I've seen more diehard bmw owners go to other brands in the last few years than ever before, and it's not stopping. Unfortunate but true, and I'm an 18 year bmw buyer/owner.

Hit the nail on the head! In my opinion, in the face of progression, BMW are alienating the true BMW enthusiasts. In my case, if BMW were to offer me any car from their current range, not one stands out. Sure the M5 or i8 would be interesting...
(And I'd probably ask for a E39 M5 or E43 M3 anyway!).
