Pain... is an excellent teacher.
If you want to have a laugh (and possibly get a little angry at me), go read this thread I wrote a few days ago: https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2076127
Do you know what's funny about BMW? They create cars that are, on paper, usually inferior to other cars, and yet somehow, they end up on top... a lot. You don't know how good BMW is until you've sold it and driven something else that you think is at least as good, only to realize that it isn't. It makes no sense how a car with 382 HP can feel faster than a car with 472, not to mention get better gas mileage while doing it. It makes no sense how a car with stiffer suspension, run flat tires, and seats that are less comfortable can actually feel MORE comfortable on the highway. It makes no sense how a 4200 lb car can handle better than a 3900 lb car... did I mention the 4200 lb car gets better gas mileage? But most importantly... it makes ZERO SENSE that a flawed dude like myself would swallow his pride, sacrifice THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, and spend hours upon hours at a Lexus dealership TWICE, only to end up with exactly the same car he had before while sacrificing a rather rare Lexus that may be worth a decent chunk of change some day. Yep. It happened. I'm back, BMW fam. My apologies to anyone that I doubted you, or if I said anything mean. Please forgive me. I have learned my lesson. I love my M440i GC. I'm not ready to part with her yet.

Damn, that was quick . Good job not submitting yourself to ignorance. I’m guessing the fake engine noises work well too haha. It’s all in the dampening. That’s why people who don’t drive bmws say they’re not worth it, R&D costs a lot.

Don't get me wrong, the Japanese 5.0 V8 was glorious, but the gas mileage and the rest of the car was not. The BMW is just a better car in nearly every way.

Welcome back.
If u get a chance, also try out the 330i RWD with low-power B46/B48(255HP/295lb-ft), u may gain extra insight and respect of BMW as a company capable of mass producing good handling cars. |

So far y’all are making me look pretty good. Hopefully madpistol won’t mind me sharing this. He shared with me what happened and was a little reluctant to post about it. I encouraged him to share and said I was pretty confident y’all would be understanding and welcome him back. After all he saw the “BMW light”. I also mentioned there is no shortage of forum members who have taken substantial losses to undo a car change mistake. Including yours truly.
Congrats to madpistol for being able to work this out and get back the car he loves!! I’m glad we kept him on the dark side!

Welcome back! what a story lol. You're the 2nd person who owned one and ditched it for a G2X. Well, the other lad had bought the IS500 first and was underwhelmed or so he claimed, since he was coming from a modded RS3. As a result he ordered a new M340i and was expecting to offload the IS as soon as the new car arrived.
I still think the IS500 would make a good 2nd car for some of us G2X owners. However, as a primary car the G2X with the B58 is hard to beat.

Welcome back! It takes courage and humility to openly share your journey. I wasn’t against your decision with the Lexus, but the BMW is by far the better dynamic driving vehicle. Also, the fuel economy really is impressive with the B58.
Congrats!

I didn't post in your other thread as it was getting a little hostile on all fronts but it did seem like a massive overreaction to a bad experience with a salesperson. Yes he should have been clearer about the situation when you expressed interest in the car and he definitely should have followed up with you to say someone else has purchased the car but that should in no way result in getting rid of a car you like.
Glad to see that's where you have now arrived and I'm impressed you had the courage to come on here and admit to it. |

Yep. We all come back to BMW. I had a sweet 2016 340i XDrive…but in 2019 jumped to a 2019 LCI C43. I did love the AMG Performance exhaust…not much else.
My 2024 G26 M440i XDrive is so much better than that C43. Engine and most certainly the transmission and suspension. I do have the M adaptive suspension on the M440i…so maybe not fair. But by god is the B58 superior to the C43 biturbo V6. BTW test drove the new 4 cylinder C43…my dealer had one. That car is an utter mess. The engine wants a divorce from the transmission. |

Anyone that tells you that the B58 + ZF 8-speed is not the best engine/transmission combo on the market… is wrong. They are a match made in heaven. Torque from the B58 is intoxicating, combined with the quick, responsive shifts from the ZF 8-speed… there is no better combo in the automotive industry. You literally have power everywhere. As for the suspension, there are more comfortable suspension setups, and there are sportier setups too, but the G2x platform is setup to marry just the right amount of sport and comfort to create a near perfect suspension setup.
I’m sure there are better setups, but you’re going to pay a lot more for them. BMW engineers nailed it with this generation. Trust me… I just spent a lot of money to understand this. Don’t make the same mistake I just made. Last edited by madpistol; 01-23-2024 at 11:40 AM.. |
