What are your Lexus forum people saying about this?

5k? You are one lucky duck.
Thought you’d get dinged for at least 10-15k.
So, the Lexus dealer took your BMW as a trade in?
They didn’t sell it right away?
Hard to believe it was still available when you switched back.
Again, lucky.

I can only speak for myself, I do not think his years of membership were a long game trolling plan. But possibly the whole Lexus scenario could have been having a little fun.

For example, I see pictures from the dealership but none in his driveway. Rarely do people post "look at my new car pic" and use photos from the dealership. They post pictures from their driveway, their garage, a scenic location, etc..

Finally, this is the internet. ANYTHING is possible.

I have zero incentive to indulge you, but since you asked...

Notice the MLITE tag, but honestly, I could just be trolling again and have moved that from my M440i GC to the IS 500 without registering it, which is of course illegal, but you never know...

I apologize, the line about "anything is possible" was not supposed to be directed at you. Just the internet in general.

Makes sense if he sold a BMW and just transferred the plates.

As with almost everyone who has posted in this thread I am very glad you were able to put that license plate back in its rightful place!!!

Since the tag was transferred, the Lexus dealer had to buy back as a used car then.

I think the most impressive element of this thread is the trade back cost of $5k for a brand new Lexus and your BMW, both brands are not known to be cheap on trade-in/trade back.

OP is a long time member, but re-read the other thread. This whole thing screams overreaction. The IS500 was going to hold its value over the long haul due to the V8…..it lasted less then a week in his possession lol.

It’s been a VERY entertaining read, almost unbelievable in ways. Which is why I mentioned possible epic trolling going on. Hopefully OP doesn’t manage peoples retirement funds

She is Beauty.
She is Grace.
She is home,
with her bucktooth face.

(in case you need more proof, I actually did take a picture of the IS 500 in my garage. Hopefully that is enough proof that this actually happened.)

i thought something bad happened. i'm having a BMW crisis now because i no longer like either of my cars. most likely my first and last 2 BMWs.

the driving dynamics is 100% good but there is no "feeling" in the car. no engine or exhaust noise only tire noise (might as well get an EV!), horrible initial throttle response, uncomfortable seats (didn't choose - bought demo cars), terrible "hifi audio" in the G21 ... but i won't sell them, i'll drive them till they die.

It depends on circumstances, the ability to unwind and retrench are invaluable skills of portfolio management.

But not based on emotion and rarely that quickly with stocks. Futures sure, not stocks.

Again, it depends on the circumstances. Entering stock positions and then exiting in a few days/weeks based on ever-changing factors and latest analysis can happen in the name of capital preservation.

In OP's case, driving and living with the IS500 for a few days provided rubber-meet-the-road data points and experience, and OP reversed his position after munching on those. This sounds reasonable given the incurred cost is acceptable to OP.

And emotion usually is not impulsive, e.g. OP likely has been building affinity to a V8/IS500 for a while, and the M3 tact(which OP didn't really wholeheartedly pursue, e.g. showing up at the dealer in 15 mins instead of 4+ hours) was just a catalyst.

You changed the parameters adding "a few days/weeks". Also, we were talking money managers, not retail traders. And as I stated, it rarely happens in days. It also rarely happens in weeks.

I say this with over 30 years of professional experience as a broker.
