Changed the chrome grille to an all black grille on my M Sport 330e. Easy to do, once I had watched a few YouTube how to videos.

The black matches the door surrounds.

Black G20 Grille

Hi all,
I've recently replaced by chrome grille on my 330I for a Black one. Happy with any hints/tips if anybody is thinking of doing the same!

I also have a spare black Grille (brand new and sealed) if anybody is interested?

Smile G22 M440xi Coupe Grill - Black Out

I picked up a G22 M440xi Coupe back in January, and was so conflicted with the grill.
Even though it had M Sport Pkg with the "Black Grill", the dashes inside the grill were still silver- and BMW, nor any aftermarket brands, make a full black one.
I brought my car to a custom shop in town & had them put small strips of vinyl to cover the silver and make the grill 100% black.
I think it changed the whole look, and really helped blend the massive grill in- hard to tell in photos, but what do you think?

How long has it been since you had the vinyl on? And since the front takes on the most debris and all, has the vinyl been able to stick pretty well? Or have you noticed some peeling. I asked a wrap shop what they could do about it and they told me to just wait for aftermarket options or go for the carbon m performance. They said if they were to paint it, it wouldn't be long until the paint would chip, since the black paint they would add over the grey wouldn't be the original layer of paint.

That looks great! I have the same car, only with blue calipers. I've been trying to find a totally black grille since January too. How much did it cost for the vinyl?

This.

I've noticed that the all black grills tends to hide the design elements of the grill to the point where it just ends up looking like a black hole, especially depending on the amount of light being reflected and how clean the car is. Been noticing this more and more not just on the G20s, but other cars as well where the entire front end is the same type of black, and sometimes literally the only contrasting component on the front are the headlights (and sometimes the emblem), or fog lights. I don't think I'll be going with a ball black grill on the front again, and would probably opt for carbon fiber style trim, or maybe even custom black chrome or gunmetal paint....something that can create a subtle contrast.

Hi all,

I picked up a 2022 330e m-sport a few days ago and I'm thinking of replacing the chrome grille with a black one. Are there any differences with the 2022 model? Just making sure the part is still the same and I'll be able to do the switch without too much difficulty. Thanks!

I was perusing eBay and came across this grill. M5 Style, with the angled slats. Also saw they have the insert for the model badge (like the M proper models have) that is removable. I'm considering 3D printing a M340i badge to fit and tacking it on. Thoughts?

Oh nice, never seen this design before. I think it looks really good on the G20 even if it is a G30 design. Not sure how the badge would look on it, but if it's sized reasonably enough it should look ok.

Probably it's just me, but i prefer the chrome look on my blue Portimão. It somehow looks right with 791 wheels.

I think the black grilles are a must on certain colors say like black or white. But for whatever reason, I really like the Cerium Grey grilles on Portimao Blue. Only thing I changed on mine are the lower outer trim pieces to Gloss Black

If my car had a cerium grill, I probably wouldn't have swapped it out. But the chrome definitely had to go.

I pulled the trigger on the angled double slat grille. Game plan is to pop off the mesh portion from the cerium gray surround on the OEM grille, and pop in the slats from the gloss black grille I ordered. I've seen the full gloss black grilles around and I think it makes the space between the headlights look muddled. Nothing there to really make a distinction as to what's what unless you're 3 feet from the front end. A lot better than going chrome though.

I think it depends on the color of the car and the contrast it creates. Both can look good respective to the color of the car itself.

I just received the full chrome grill for my 330i M sport individual. This grill will replace my standard chrome/black grill. Still need to find time to get it on the car.
