No good. I really wanted ceramic tint, but ended up going with a Llumar Dye film because I didn't want to mess with this... Just sucks that BMW hasn't recognized the problem and provided a solution.

It's pretty dim but not to the point where i can't see. But if you like your panels bright, don't tint too dark. 35% would prob be best

There has to be a way to resolve this issue.

Just read all of the testing I did. You can go darker (20%) if you go with a non-ceramic film.

Yea I did read the thread but did it anyway and now it dims but not as bad as I thought it would be. Don't really bother me

The only solution I have is I bought a reading light off amazon for $10 and I clip it to the flaps where the heat comes out and aim it at the sensor near the cluster, lights up everything like a Christmas tree but jeez for a 80 grand car it's quite embarrassing, also when people ask I just shrug it off..

Yup it's crazy that they have not addressed this issue. I don't have to deal with the issue now that I have non-ceramic tint, but I still wish this hadn't been such a pain in the ass.

I have no tint, and I'm constantly annoyed at how dim the display gets in certain lighting conditions. When the sun is low in the sky, driving at about 45 degrees off of head on, it gets very dim. Still readable, but annoying. It's ridiculous that this can't be adjusted in iDrive. One of my many technology gripes about this car.

The sensor is way too sensitive. Imagine how dim it gets when you add tint into the equation...it's sometimes not readable at all.

It blows my mind how a company that makes sport cars, don't account for people customizing there vehicles... like how did they not anticipate people tinting...

Is it a carbon based film? They also trigger the dimming as well (just not as bad). What kind of tint is it?

I don't have my car yet (currently in transit to the dealership) the owners manual is available to me and I came across this, hope this helps! Especially since I do intend on using 15% ceramic tints all around & 50% on the windshield

I had a 20% nano ceramic tint done all around (excluding windshield) and I've seen no dimming whatsoever. I was really worried about it but was getting a great deal on the tint from a local shop that I just decided to go through with it. So glad I did as I've seen no dimming at all.

Trust me that doesn't do anything. 15% ceramic tints and windshield tint I can almost guarantee that you are going to have issues with dimming (unless you have massive amounts of sunlight all day long).

What brand? It's probably dimmed and you don't even notice yet. Shine a flashlight at the left side of the gauges android watch the map go really bright.

I can confirm that this does nothing. Even when going into the display settings and setting the 'night' setting to max, it still is hella dim.

I'll find out today, I was told which brand but I've forgotten. I was specifically looking out for any dimming at all as I've had plenty of time to browse the forums while I waited for the car cause of Covid
I haven't seen it dim even the slightest. But I am in Seattle and it has been really good weather here since I've had the tints. Maybe a cloudy may do it. I'll update you on the brand as soon as I find out!

The brand of my tints are going to be xpel, I seen someone else with a my21 model with 20% ceramic tints all around (no windshield) and he said his display dimming was minimal, he barely noticed
