I'm pretty sure there are more M badges on an M340i than a real M car, which I can't quite wrap my head around.

I considered debadging my M4, but the black competition package badge blends in to the black paint so well I left it. It's pretty subtle.

On a side note, I think you're right. I never did an official count, but I think my F80 has fewer M badges than my 335. I even planned to get rid of the decklid badge, but ended up going with Tanzanite, which similar to your black, really makes the blacked out M logo pop, but in a subtle way...?

This is the competitor to the amazing new C43 and S4? What a joke and disappointment.
If I wanted a Lexus , I wouldn't be looking for one in here.
The whole rear and tail pipe design ... FAIL
Let's just hope it looks much better in person , and hopefully the ///M version is something nice to look at.

The rear is hideous! Looks like a Honda Accord...

The interior on the other hand, is very nice.

Not bad, not great
Front end of the current 4 series looks better, IMO

I noticed this similarity and now I can't unsee it.....the rear of the car really looks Lexus-like/very Japanese.

Doesn't even look like there is a blank spot for a ventilated seats button. Heated seat button has no space next to it. No ventilated seats in this category would be a bummer at this point.

Wow I am done here. Fanboys; you can't see the forest through the trees. BMW used to stand for simple yet elegant styling which is why we all love the old cars so much and why a clean E46 M3 still gets thumbs up and head turns from non-car people. Numerous designers at BMW have stated this in the past, that simplistic lines are appealing, tasteful and timeless. That is out the window now. BMW used to lead and now appears to be copying. The front look like a Nissan Altima, the rear looks like a Lexus IS. The interior is cluttered and overly complex where they used to pride themselves on good materials, functionality, and legibility.

Seems like we got a bunch of designers at BMW that want to change things for the sake of change.

Now I am sure these will sell like hotcakes, but BMW has lost its design edge and seems on track to lose its edge on motors as well.

Gotta admit, I expected worse. But this will take some warming up to, just like my initial impression when BMW dropped the F30. And yes, the taillights definitely remind me of lexus, but better!

the kink beneath the headlight and the bumper section below that looks pretty weird, too many edges and lines. the tail lights are a disaster. but the rest of the car looks pretty good.

i really hate that mesh grill on the m340i. I hope it looks better in person / real pics (though I hate it on the z4 real pics). The other thing I don't really like is not having a knob for climate controls and having a rocker switch instead. Thats always worse imo. I'll still probably buy an m340i though

Looks like a car to get in a darker colour because it's got way too many body lines; overall design is too busy IMO.

Prefer the F30 LCI tailights over this design for sure. I'm probably the few who prefer the F30 interior over this new interior as well...

I like it. They're making it look like the M2 front without the hideous M2 back.
It looks nothing like the M2 front.

Not sure what you are smoking

M2 looks badass in the rear.

Looks shit inside and out.
Lot of work for the LCI - too much?
Glad I just bought an F30 instead of waiting.

I wouldn't say the overall design is too busy, but the front bumper certainly is. It's disproportionately busy compared to the rest of the car and I don't understand why BMW always has to muddle up the air intakes on either side of the front bumper...simply too much going on with them. I also think they flare up too much towards the outside corners...they are too tall at the outside.
As far as the rear, I don't hate it but don't love it either. I do think the tail lights are going to look best on a black vehicle.

Overall, I think the car is generally attractive inside and out. There are things to nitpick, but I can't help but laugh at the people who are outright rejecting the design.
