10 years ago, Acura's sales plummeted due to the TL's grille as this may happen to the M3 and M4 next year. |

I dunno man, I think the opposite is going to happen. Once it is officially unveiled, that thread is gonna have like a billion pages here. And it's gonna hit all the major car sites like Jalopnik, Autoblog, whatever the big sites are now.

I just don't get it. Do a google image search for 19xx BMW. Change the decade from 1970 to 2020, hitting each decade. Grille barely changed from 70's - 90's. The cars did, grill didnt and didn't need to. 2000-2010, slight evolution to more modern look. Now it is changing drastically several times last couple years. Seems like every new model gets a new grille, and not always that subtle of a change, instead of a slight change to an iconic symbol that then goes out to all variants with just little variation.
I don't hate some of the newer ones. Just don't get why it is changing so often. And I do hate some of them (none more than this render, 7 series also comes to mind). Losing their heritage, fast. Not a good thing. |

I know.. I've gone back that far too and my first thought was exactly of that big grill you posted. But it just doesn't feel the same. For starters, the old one actually suits the look of the car and you know, looks good.

If anything our current generation grills deviate from heritage. It's just doing a full circle back to the beginning.

I'd call it a reboot.
