Chill bro, this is a forum to talk about engine mods. Why be that guy?
OP I think the Active Autowerke DP is a great mod with practically no downside except cost. It may add 20hp-ish to an untuned car. Dinan or MST intakes are pretty popular but mostly for sound and aesthetic though the popular belief is they will add +6-7whp. Other than that, either an ECU tune or a piggyback will add 30-80hp depending on other mods. |

Welcome OP
A downpipe is an easy option, in my opinion; get the active autowerke catted. It improves the airflow and sound and does not trigger the check engine light. The intake is a little more complicated as it depends on your goals. If carbon fiber is a must, Eventuri is the way to go, in my opinion. My favorite type is the open intake with a heat shield where you get the most sound and air flow while keeping the temps in check. The MAD intake is the best value, in my opinion.

Do you plan to tune at all? If not I'd probably skip the downpipe because the gains just aren't there for the money unless you go with catless or a very high flowing catted but then you run into Cel issues.
I suggest these two mods. MAD Intake - https://mad-us.com/mad-bmw-m340-m440...w-heat-shield/ Catback Exhaust - https://mad-us.com/mad-bmw-m340-m440...exhaust-system

Save on the DP if you are not planning a tune.
Tune is everything on this car imho. Without one the ROI is not great. My mods . BMW MPE (Port Installed) . AA CATTED DP . DINAN CAI HP gains moderate at best with this. If you are hunting sound just look into an axle back exhaust instead and save yourself some cash, or maybe put those funds into WHEELS and SUSPENSION for a better return on investment. |

AA Downpipe and aFe intake, best combo in my opinion. https://afepower.com/afe-power-50-70...-pro-5r-filter

We tested the MAD intakes on all three cars; you can certainly hear them, MAD filters are the loudest on the market.

The downpipe won't give much more "peak" power, but it will allow the turbo to spool faster so you get even less lag and faster response. I noticed a nice improvement with mine DP, but I had a 200cel which is higher flowing than the those that don't throw a cel (400cel GESI cat) - I didn't care about a cel and have a tune. A tune is difficult for you. Having said that. For the cost of AA which is very expensive. I would spend the money instead on getting the DME unlocked (yes its a process) and then get a much much cheaper catless or 200cel cat DP. You probably won't spend much more on the unlock and DP than the cost of the AA and it completely opens up the options and allows you to get a proper tune. Then get MHD stage 2 - you won't look back. Forget money wasting money on things like intake and intake pipes. They are just a waste. Focus your funds on biggest bang for buck. So that's what I'd do if I was you. |
