Gotcha. It was some intentionally misleading script writing, for sure.
As to why introduce an LGBT character - I'm torn. Certainly LGBT folks existed in the same numbers then as they do now. However, even in the mid-80s, I don't think the "coming out" by Robin, and even more so the receiving of that news by Steve, would have been nearly so nonchalant. |

*OFFICIALLY* Netflix Biggest Opening/Viewing in their History!!!
https://www.cnbc.com/2019/07/09/stra...ix-record.html ‘Stranger Things 3’ breaks Netflix record for most-viewed series in first four days! Netflix says 40.7 million households have watched the third season of “Stranger Things” since it hit the streaming platform on July 4. That’s higher than any other film or series has been viewed on the streaming platform in the first four days since release, Netflix says. One analyst says the record viewership implies the show’s new season has reached 26% of Netflix’s global paid subscriber base.

It amazes me how True to Life everything is from the iconic 80s!!!
After all.... I was There and clearly remember the dress, cars, music, food, etc. When they are inside of grocery stores, how are they able to amass sooooooooo many 80's products??? And at the Mall.... I loved me some Orange Julius!!!

I thought they missed an excellent opportunity with the M&Ms. Remember there used to be two shades of brown?

The mall is a shitty ghetto zombie mall about 5mi from me. Hell, the BMW dealership is right around the corner.
Apparently they built the stores, here's an article: https://www.latimes.com/entertainmen...711-story.html |

They were still coming down from the truth serum, which is why I think they were both so nonchalant about it.

Finished it the other day, awesome, first season is still my favorite, however I would say this one and season 2 are tied. This one was a tad too in your face with the CGI (did anyone notice the HORRIBLE CGI fireworks over the fair?) but still had like a cheesy 80s action movie vibe to it. I thought seasons 1 and even 2 were a little more subtle and eerie. This one was more action packed and fun I thought.

So we FINALLY finished watching the end of the last episode last night. Spoiler Alert!
Do we want to discuss where we think Hopper is at this point? Did he get taken back to Russia, with the Russians that disappeared, as the Americans rushed the mall or did he get sucked into the void/upside down? We lost interest and turned the last episode off once Dustin and his girlfriend started singing. A few days later my son told me Hopper died and felt like I had to finish watching it. Apparently the boy didn't watch past the ending credits and didn't see the Russians and the comment of "No. Not the American." Anyone else feel like this is Hopper they have locked up? |
