MPE Exhaust UK & US version

I managed to order an MPE exhaust from germany (the OEM EU exhaust sound like a vacuum cleaner), i wonder what are the differences between the US and UK version of the MPE.

Does your car have an OPF? If so, I thought the MPE wouldn't fit (different diameter piping and different hanger positioning)?

That could be true, I'll look into that. But even if it's not completely compatible, i'll make it work.

Hi Marc, did you consider OPF delete instead of the MPE? I'm looking into exhaust modifications as well and OPF delete looks to be the most simple solution with relative good result. Voids warranty though.

Hi, I did consider that, but should you delete the OPF and our trustworthy government (yes i am from Netherlands too) decides to make this an MOT (APK) point... you are screwed, so i want to keep the GPF for now.

Tomorrow the M performance exhaust will be fitted and i'll try to make some pics of the adjustments that are needed (if any)

If you look closely on in the BMW parts cat. you can see that the pipe diameter between EU and US version is the same (75 and 70mm) only the angle where the pipe needs to be cut is slightly different... as far as I can see the hangers are the same.

So today i had an appointment to fit the MPE on my EU M340i with GPF...

As expected it did not fit 100% but with a very minor modification the fitment was perfect.

As can be seen only one pipe needs to be slightly adjusted in it's angle, even the "dimples" where to cut are present on the EU version.

Sound is superb now, precisely what i was looking for.... not too loud but a nice sporty tone.

It is a bit more work than fitting it to a US M340i but it really is worth the extra hassle, pipe diameter is exactly the same as US cars.

Besides that it's quite unique for an M340i to have a MPE in the EU.

Would love to here a soundclip, looks like a nice option for those who want some extra sound.

Hi Marc

I'm looking to get an M Performance exhaust for my 2021 G21 as well.
Do you remember where you got the exhaust?
I found hubauer-shop.de sells one with part number 18 30 2 464 492, but with all that I read about piping maybe not fitting, I want to make sure it'll fit.
Here in Belgium, I believe they already check for the OPF/GPF being present when going for the MOT/APK.

Thanks!
Bart

You are correct, the MPE exhaust is made only for non OPF cars... I have ordered one and had it custom fitted to my car
