I have a G21 with what I suspect is the noise.
Spoken to two dealers and they haven't heard anything about any service bulletin, either. Jugga, could you try to get the service bulletin number from your dealer? |

Yes, M-Sport and M-Sport brakes (320d, sport automatic, rear wheel drive).
What would be interesting is if anyone could record the sound and post it. My noise is more like a muffled resonance low hertz "whoooo...-like" sound. |

Yes, whooo is also the best way I can describe it. I cannot grasp how they can't detect the source of this noise considering that the dealer has audio recording equipment mounted to my car. I mean, how hard can it be? I can hear it with my ears even at idle... Move the damn microphone around in/at the f*cking car and at some point they gotta hit the sweet spot?!

I hear similar sound also but I think that coupé is picking up everything like a big resonance box. The sound that I hear when I drive could be caused from a bad bearing, but the bearing itself could be silent and only make vibriations into the body and the source of resonance sound could be somehere else. |

I can't hear it at idle.
It begins somewhere around 30km/h and I can hear it more/louder the higher the speed gets. Sometimes it is a slightly "pulsing" sound but mostly only "whooo". I would really like to get a hold of the service bulletin number regarding the prop shaft support bearing and to know the name of Juggas dealer. |

This service bullentin doesn’t seem to exist, so I have now requested that BMW make a repurchase in accordance with their warranty commitment. No more BMW for me!

Yes, I have given this up. It’s not ok to pay all this money to a manufacturer who doesn’t give any information at all about this issue. I don’t even know if they are trying to solve this.
I send you the dealer in a pm. |

Try this experiment. Use manual AT mode so that you can change gear and engine rpm/speed while you vehicle speed stays the same. When you start hearing the sound/noise, keep you vehicle speed the same, but drop down a couple of gears so that the engine rpm will increase. Then note what changes with the noise, if anything. Does the sound level/loudness change? And, does the pitch of the noise change? Then, keep your vehicle speed the same, but shift up a couple of gears so that the engine rpm goes down, and take notice if the sound increases or decreases in volume level, and if the noise changes in pitch. Report what you hear. Noting any changes with these experiments may be helpful to the tech/s to better understand where the noise is coming from, and what to listen for. They won't be able to correct any problem if they can't first hear and then isolate the area where the noise may be coming from. |

Sound even if you roll down a hill with the engine off The sound changes with the speed It seems that is coming from lower front. But the source could be anywhere, if the coupe/body is the resonance box. It could be the drive shaft bearing even if that is placed a bit back. I'm afraid that the Touring model is a design failure and that it is a very sensitive resonance box and it picking up sounds that is hard to find. |

I wonder (and somehow doubt) if any dealers have had a problematic car on a rolling road/dyno field. (Not sure the correct translation of "rullefelt") It would probably be dead easy to determine whether the noise is coming from the drive-train - gearbox, prop shaft bearing, etc. or if it's coming from the wheel arches. On a rolling road the front wheels wouldn't be spinning, which would take them out of the equation. They could even, when up to speed, put the car in neutral and turn off the engine to rule out the engine noise too.
