330e hybrid or hybrid eco pro

Hi guys
With having to still go to work in the lockdown I’ve been playing with the settings to see how to optimise consumption in my 330e - I have a 30 mile each way commute with a mix of roads. Usually get around 24 miles of electric to start with.

I have found for me that driving the car in hybrid mode gives a better MPG than running in hybrid eco pro - mostly I can only assume is to do with the regenerated slowing where eco pro just sits at 0 and doesn’t go j to charge.

Anybody else found hybrid more economical than eco pro?

Must admit, I'm 3k miles in and still haven't used hybrid eco pro and don't really know what it's for! I don't think it regens and so don't like the fact there is no 'engine braking' when you ease off the gas.

Depends a lot on the type of terrain your journey takes you.

Hybrid eco pro can be efficient when "freewheeling".

Try putting your destination in the Nav and use Adaptive mode.
I get pretty good consumption figures after my battery range is exhausted.

Personally after using hybrid I found eco pro a bit strange when freewheeling.

As above it must depend on driving style and type of roads.

Thinking about it the car has "kinetic energy" at a given speed and will continue to travel a long distance and only slow down slowly (given modern low rolling resistance tyres etc) so not use any fuel - no system losses...but anticipating the road is key...

Recuperating (hybrid) will slow the vehicle faster and transfer that energy into the battery to be used later. But, there must be a loss of energy when charging and then taking out (nothing is 100% efficient).

So do you use most efficient when you just coast or is better overall to save the energy for other (stop/start) parts of your journey??

Yes it is a bit of a balancing act.

Eco Pro freewheels but does regenerate when braking.

Putting a destination in the sat nav also helps with "anticipatory hybrid drive"

Could get a bit tedious listening to route guidance instructions on the daily commute.

Is there a way to easily mute the guidance announcements and direction graphics?

Depending on road type depends which eco mode I use. If there's lots of slower corners I use hybrid as it slows the car down more but if the journey is more of a stead speed I use hybrid pro as it 'free wheels'. Mostly also run the sat nav too, never have voice overs on. Also switching off the heaters as soon as I get in saves at least 6 miles of charge, I'd normally do this minimum 10 degrees otherwise windscreen fogs up!

Pretty new to the hybrid set up, but I've been using adaptive driving mode in conjunction with the sat nav.

The other major difference between hybrid and hybrid eco pro is that the car also reduces power to other comfort features such as air con, heat seating for example. You can change this in the idrive settings too

when navigating, press right on the control button and then one option is to mute the spoken instructions.

Just ignore all that shit, put it into sport mode, keep the battery charged and enjoy it whilst still being more efficient that any other 3 series model!!

I would love to have Anticipatory Hybrid Drive in Hungary... (it's grayed out for now)

Quick question. Can you customize Hybrid Eco Pro? In Electric Individual you can enable/disable Eco Pro functions. Ex I have eco pro air conditioning and seat heating enabled, but light and sight disabled. Am I right that in Hybrid Eco Pro you get all and you have to go Hybrid to have all off?
