I dont physcially have my car yet (its sat in UK awaiting customs clearance) but I do have the VIN number.

Looking at the ConnectedDrive store there doesnt seem to be much logic to the options that are listed as available and the ones that say "not available for your vehicle".

Its my understanding that the Remote Services, BMW Online etc are included in the Connected Professional Package for the first 3 years but they are still available as options to buy; whereas options I wasn't expecting, such as Concierge Services are not available for your vehicle.

It also has BMW Drive Recorder as an available purchasable option, but the car should be spec'd with that by default as part of the Technology Plus Pack.

Am I right in assuming that the Store is just pretty hopeless at displaying relevant options for specific cars?

I think you may have to associate the Connected Drive account from inside the car to get full functionality and correct options. Although you can add using VIN you also have to acknowledge / accept on the iDrive as part of the profile setup which you obviously have not done yet. Once you do it should update correctly. You are correct that the connected services are available for three years but the dealer activates as part of the delivery otherwise you might pick your car up and have lost two months during shipping etc.

The options showing up as not available are already spec'ed in your car, so you cannot buy them. I see for example the cruise control as not available for my car, because I already have it.

Thats what I was expecting, however some stuff I was expecting to already have are showing up as an option to purchase. BMW Drive Recorder etc.

I'll just wait and see what happens when I'm sat in the car. Was just browsing around at what having the VIN number added. Turns out, just confusion.

Part of PDI will be activating the navigation and connected drive.

Before that's done the website will show the wrong information for your car, so I wouldn't try buying anything until it's in your hands
