M340i xDrive Adaptive M Suspension Option

Hello,

I was trying to configure an M340i xDrive on bmwusa.com, however can't seem to find the Adaptive M Suspension 2VF. It is not part of the standard equipment list either.

How is it that every other 3 series starting from the 330i to the M3 Competition xDrive has that option, leaving out only the M340i and xDrive models.

Is this some sort of error on the website and the dealer can spec this out while ordering or is this another silicon shortage feature to get axed?

https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1854175&page=3

I can't seem to find the link, but I did read something about 3 and 4 series not getting the Adaptive M Suspension due to chip shortages. The website however lets you configure every 3 and 4 series with 2VF except the M340i and xDrive.

Thoughts?

It was cut due to the chip shortages….September 1st rings a bell. I spent a ton of time trying to find one in October/November with adaptive and somehow stumbled across an M340i stuck at the port waiting for the RAM module with an 8/30 production date and adaptive suspension. I really lucked out.

My M340 was not able to have M adaptive suspension added, I was very upset about it.

With that said, having the car now without the M Adaptive Suspension, the ride is perfectly fine and while I still would have wanted the option, I can live without it.

Last week i asked my CA to check on the status of 2VF for M340 because the BMW issued letter expired on Dec 14. Unfortunately, 2VF is not available for M340i until TBD.

Thats encouraging feedback. Btw, are you running runflats or non-runflats?

Also how are the roads where you are at, I am in Dallas and roads are pretty bad, I feel the bumps everywhere with my F30 M-Sport suspension.

Much appreciated! It's an awesome car.

The funny thing about the whole story is i secured one just out of production back in October, but it would be a 4-6 week wait to get to my dealer. So i continued looking daily at dealers inventory and the week it was expected to arrive I found one with the adaptive suspension that randomly arrived at my dealer so I called my CA about it. Sounds like it had been sitting at the port for a long time and they had no idea it was coming their way. So I ended up snagging that one instead.

That's sad. How do all others 3 and 4 series even have the option of adding it, when the 340i doesn't, hmmm...

Hopefully it becomes available soon.

Great question. I'm sure supply chain is the issue but I don't think we will ever know the decision making tree from bmw why 330 should have it and m340i shouldn't… I would assume m340i customers are willing to spend more on performance options vs 330i. Or m340i std is just damn good?

No 3 series has adaptive suspension available. It is on the Gran Coupe in the 430i or M440i. Doesn't appear on the convertible

I've never driven an M340i with this option, and I've only briefly driven an M340i at all.

Somehow I've made this feature really important (deal breaker), because I have roads around me that are basically stitched together concrete squares. For 18 years, my 330i E46 has been rattling my teeth in this area. Would really like the option to soften things up around here, but stiffen when I go for sunday drives.

I have the run flat tires and I drove on all kinds of roads brining my M340i back from the Performance Center and the ride never felt harsh or jarring.

With that said, the roads where I live are pretty well maintained and my F30 rode worse than this G20 M340i

Adaptive M is available in the online configurator in Canada. Its another story if it actually makes it on the car. Not sure why it wouldnt be available in the States if its available to add in Canada. Check with the dealer maybe ?

We have adaptive M on one of our older BMWs - and i strongly recommend it especially if you go with non-RFT - you will feel the difference in the quality of the ride in daily driving.

As of right now the online configurator on bmwusa at-least lets you add the Adaptive M Suspension to 3 series (except the m340), it making it to your car is a different story due to the ship shortages.

Don't trust the build your own. Within the BMW ordering system it is NOT available on any 3 series. Right now, only available on the 4 GC

Within the ordering system, the dynamic handling package shows just tire/wheel options. 2VF is not shown

That's odd. Why would you pay $1150 for $600 wheels?

Supposedly my m440cv was just built with zdh. It better have the ams otherwise i probably walk.
