Maps 2023-4 now on the download manager

But you might find there's an issue....

I have always done the download to my desktop but the new version of download manager seems to be insisting I do it to a min 64GB USB drive (which I don't have) even though it lets you select the desktop as the location within settings.

Luckily the old version of download manager is still on my laptop and is letting me download to the desktop.

Yeah. Noticed that the other day. The new version of Download Manager insists on at least 64G "free space", so may even need a 128G device.

I'm downloading it now and using a 64GB hard drive for the 'copying to' device.
It's allowing a 64 so no need for a 128.
I always use Mac's disc utility to erase the drive before opening BMW's Download Manager and make sure it's formatted to FAT32 and it doesn't seem to cause any problems.
Just takes ages to download to my iMac because of the crappy download speed of 5.5 MB/s

Just looked at the file size and it's stating it's 32.58GB so shouldn't need a 128GB drive.

Just downloaded it using the new download manager and a 64GB USB drive. But, just realised it has downloaded 2023-3 which I've already got, not 2023-4????

Any ideas why?

It's mad how throttled the download is - even with a 1Gbps connection it takes forever.

Our home connection is about 30 Mbps so, if I've done the maths right, that file should download in under 20 minutes. It actually takes about 2 hours.

Well here's a good one for you all..............the download manager has installed the 'new' map on to my USB drive and it says it's Road Map EUROPE Live 2023-3...ffs!!!

I haven't got time to install it in the car right now so it'll have to wait until I have got time to do it...it'll be interesting to see what the iDrive says when I go to install it! What is going on???

My map update package expired, and not going to renew. How much do roads actually change in 3 months? I had my last BMW for 7 years, and did 4 of those without map updates. Can count on one hand the number of times a new road appeared, and I didn't once get confused. And then of course there is Waze/Google Maps.

The throttling is likely caused by the low write speed of your USB drive?

Agreed something is up. When I started this thread New Manager was saying 2023-4 but it's now saying 2023-3. I have downloaded 2034-4 with Old Manager but haven't tried to upload to the car yet to see if it really is 2023-4.

EDIT - just checked Old Manager again and 2023-4 has disappeared! God knows what I have downloaded.

I thought I'd have a go at downloading the new maps 2023-4 but for me it also shows that the newest version available is 2023-3 This was around 5PM this evening.

I also tried to run the BMW Download Manager app installer (for Windows) and that also gave me an error "Error in parsing the app package." Which suggests a corrupted download AFAIK

Funny, by coincidence I downloaded 2023-3 just last night onto my PC and then unzipped onto a 128gb USB. After reading this thread I looked again.....only 2023-3 offered for my M340d

Yeah. Same here. Think I'll give it a wide berth for a week or so though.
Hopefully by then I'll have a bit more confidence in the process and what I'm downloading.

I can see it now too. It must have only just changed as I tried it about 5 mins ago and was still seeing 2023-3.

Quite a slow download though as others have said, I'm on gigabit but it's only running at about 20-40MB/s
