Portimao Blue with Oyster or Cognac interior?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
My 440i GC lease is ending in a few months, and I'm getting a Portimao Blue M340i. But I'm stuck on which color interior I want - Oyster or Cognac.

Thoughts, pictures, experience with either.

Thanks

I have a Portimao Blue with Oyster and I love it. Wife has the same oyster interior in her X3. Biggest issue is that you need to keep on the seat cleaning if you wear a lot of dark blue jeans. There is definitely some transfer, and I don't know of how eliminate it from happening.

This is not THAT big of a deal though tbh, and wasn't a deal breaker.

Cognac was a my second choice, but I wanted a more unique interior color.

I also have 5% tint all around, and the light color oyster helps it not feel like I'm in a basement.

I'm happy to put some photos up if you want anything specific. Let me know

Oyster is clean, classy, and bright looking but if you’re at all OCD you’ll probably wind up going crazy. My only experience with it is with a loaner and even after a few days it did start showing color transfer from pants.

Striking combo! I wish I was brave enough to go with a light interior.

I’m an admitted amber hater so I have to ask if you’re going to get paint matched reflectors. Personally, I couldn’t sleep at night knowing those reflectors were on my car.

Thanks! I love it, very happy with the combo. It's easy to deal with, especially since it's just me and the wife that go inside it. Wifey's car is the dog carrier (also oyster) so we take some extra precautions with hers (dog seats and towels).

I've thought about replacing the reflectors but they don't bother me that much. Besides the tint, I don't usually care to spend extra on upgrades after I get a car. Maybe in the future if I get bored and get a nice work bonus.

For Port Blue I prefer the contrast that Oyster delivers. No wrong choice thou

Beautiful combo!

I had a San Marino Blue M3 with Silverstone (Full Leather) and I loved it. I don't wear jeans very often, but I didn't feel like it was horrible to keep clean. I did however have a seat protector for a car seat that caused some discoloring. Fortunately I found a company that was able to fix it (while I still had it.)

I've got a 330i now with the black leather and blue stitching. I'd much rather have the oyster!

I've had very traditional. Black on Black. Mineral gray on red and mineral gray on mocha. But I think imma step it up with the oyster.

I had a '17 440i that was mineral gray w/ coral red as my previous car, it was great, thoroughly enjoyed it, but now I don't miss it that much anymore when I drive the m340i ;-)

I have mine since mid December 2019 with Portimao and Cognac and absolutely love it as well.

GM offered white vinyl interiors in some of the mid sized cars in the late 1960's. I briefly had a used 1968 Buick Regal with white interior - no fun.

No kids/pets>Oyster
Otherwise cognac will make you relax more instead of cleaning weekly.

I wouldn't go with cognac unless it's extended leather, since I don't like the look of cognac-coloured plastic. Plastic in oyster looks somewhat better. But be aware, vernasca is still low-level quality leather, not much better than dakota.

A couple of pictures of my Portimao/Oyster/Oak combo.

I like both oyster and cognac. Had oyster / mineral grey on my previous X2. Now have cognac / tanzarite in my 330e. I would think that with portimao the oyster would provide better contrast than the cognac.
However, I found oyster to be slightly "cold", cognac gives a warmer cabin. I would try to experience both if possible.

Note: due to leather dash option, the lower part of the dashboard is covered in black leather and not cognac colored. I would consider this route if you choose cognac.
