That's understandable too, which is where the beauty of the automotive market shines. There's so much to choose from in the new/used car market. When Honda, for example, turned the Civic from a handsome, yet sporty, entry level coupe into a Transformer, I'm sure many die hards weren't happy. People have warmed up to it now though, and it doesn't look as bad to the eye as it did initially. I think the same will apply to the new 4/M3/M4. I'll always think the '00 CTR was one of the best looking Civic's ever made though......even though it looks super dated compared to today's cars.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on the merits of the new 4 Concept's design

My elderly neighbour has a new Civic and it's as ugly as the day it came out, to my eyes. His words when he bought it, paraphrased - 'It's as ugly as sin but when you get to my age, you're past caring. It starts first time and gets me from A to B safely'.
I have slightly higher expectations of my next BMW

As i have been following closely i knew big grilles were coming. So the reveal photos were not a shock to me but still i hated the grilles.

I saw the concept 4 in the metal yesterday. It is a million times better than in photos. I mean, i would still rather smaller grilles but these are not that bad

If you like the Vision iDynamics interpretation of the grille? You will be fine.

Saw it yesterday too, overall I thought it was fine and agree with it being better than photos but for me the grill is still not for me but I'll still wait to see the final production version. M8GC concept which I saw at Geneva hasn't really materialised design wise so I wonder how much deviation from this concept there will be.

On a side note, I was surprised at how small the BMW stand was. I went 4 years ago and they had the whole building to themselves along with a little track and road up in the air to demo their cars and presentation area.
Perhaps its a reflection of the current state of the car industry...

....likely a toned down front/rear bumper, different mirrors, headlights with covers, no 21" wheels, etc.

Yeah the front bumper of the M8GC was great so was disappointed with the finished 8, but I'm more the wiser for the future now

Agreed. The M8 might have the worst looking M front end IMO and I think the M-Sport front end looks much better. The M8 is kind of boring and safe, and it has those weird thick CF pieces on the side intakes that make it look clunky.

Everyone loved the F8X styling especially sedan F80 over E90.
While not as polarizing as this concept, when the f30 first came out people were not happy with the hood cut line or the headlights connecting to the grill. It was not universally praised right away.
....Yep!! Some people also didn't like the hood lines that run along both sides of the hood, the kink, etc. Most claimed that the E9X or other iteration was going to skyrocket in value. Nearly the same types of comments are stated every time a new model emerges. You can almost predict what the reactions will be verbatim. I do agree that the previous cars weren't as polarizing, but designing a polarizing car was the exact intent. It wasn't accidental.
You continually fail to understand that the car is just plain ugly. Nothing can change that, no matter how many comments you make.

The subjective nature of appeal/attraction/looks will never be universally agreed upon......

...no matter how many comments you, or anybody else, make to the contrary. There WILL be people who find this car attractive. Who are you/we to tell them that they are wrong? If somebody told you that your gf/wife were ugly, I’m sure that you would disagree, right?!?!

Nice, that sounds like the i4 will have the sealed grill or in other words just a grill frame as the Vision Dynamics. I was worried there for a while that the i4 would get the grille inserts which would be pretty uncool for an EV. Even worse than having a badge saying Turbo allover the rear

Stage 2: spend my money elsewhere
Stage 3: LCI to fix grille.

Let's see how this plays out 😂

Hmmm, I wonder if that's where the license plate is supposed to go? If so, I like it.

It goes exactly where it is found on Concept 4.

It's like you have to keep repeating the same things ad nauseam. You've told us that the plate will bisect the grilles at least 3-4 times, yet, people still ignore what you have stated or just refuse to believe it.

I finally get to see the M3 in its large kidney grille glory in early October.
