2022 M440i Gran Coupe

Yesterday, all of a sudden, the leds indicating which drive mode is active stopped lighting.

The mode DOES change, but there is no led lit.

I made a dealer appointment to have it checked out, but does anyone have any ideas?

Off topic, but can you post a picture showing the entire gear selector. Looks really nice, is it modified?

I’ve got to be honest, I used someone else’s photo.
It was meant to illustrate the mode buttons.
I don’t know what the “mountain climbing” button is for.

In response to your question, I don't have any LEDs on the drive mode buttons in my 23 M340i. Not exactly the same car but I think the center console is the same.

My 330i has these 4 modes, but does not have an LED on the centre console. The selection just shows on the instrument panel. There is an LED for the Auto Hold feature, and also for Stop start deactivation (just out of the picture above the Start/Stop button) - but not drive mode. Look closely and you'll see that they simply don't exist on the panel.

That picture looks like an X3 or X5 with hill descent control.
