Don’t do it
Doesn’t make any sense at all, essentially it’s the same car minus the exhaust. Dealer is getting the waaaaay better deal here if you trade in.
Keep the money and grab an MPE or another exhaust. I have the MPE on a 2023 and there’s plenty of burbles/cracks if that’s what you want

It’s the idrive 8. I swear I tried to get used to it. Just feels unsafe and tacky. You guys are making me want to keep it a little. But having it for 5 years ahhhhhh

Should I sell privately?

How do the headlights suck? Do you have the cornering lights ?

Revs suck in sport mode, what does that mean, the modes are the same.

Why adjust the climate it’s like a house AC you set the temp you want and the car maintains it.

This swap is lighting a ton of money on fire for a worse car but you do. Wouldn’t want a 340 with 55k miles

I will agree that I also hate the climate control. For nav/maps, telephone, etc there are physical buttons and then you can use the wheel to make your selection. They should have thrown a button for climate down there too. But that in itself wouldn't be a reason for me to get the same car a few years older. I think iDrive 8 screen is very impressive actually.

If you must make the change, I'd sell it privately and buy an older model. Other option is to find someone with a 2020 and swap cars with you also getting a decent amount of cash.

I do not have the cornering lights. When I drove the 2020 vs 2023, sport mode felt different. Perhaps same drive train maybe tuned differently? Unfortunately I don’t just set my temp. I am changing often. As weird as I am I guess

I’m going to have to buy the older car first and then try to sell my 2023. I gave the dealer a refundable deposit as of now. Where should I list ya think? Autotrader car gurus etc

I just bought M240i 2023 and coming from a long line of analog car dashes. At first I LOATHED iD8 but now I love it after a few weeks.
I rented today a 2019 X4 M40i with the “old” dash and thought it looked antiquated .

But I agree that if there is recurring freezing and the exhaust sounds different (I noticed that the M40i had more pops than my year) then yeah I get your frustration .

I mean it is not something I would do but you can always rationalize by saying “life is short”!

Good luck.

Do you restart your idrive to correct the freezing? How do you have your climate set up? Thanks yaar

Really? To sell my car privately for more money than I got it for and buy the fully loaded 2020 for 40k? I feel like 54k miles isn’t much for the b58. But yeah money wise this sucks

Yeah really. I think you're wishful thinking that you're going to sell it for more than you paid for it, for one. Two, you'd be buying an older vehicle with high mileage and no warranty, or have to pay a decent amount in addition for an extended service contract. From a financial standpoint, that's a horrible deal.

Reading your list of gripes on the new car, I think some of them are a bit over dramatic. The headlights are not horrible by any means, missing the lumbar and adjustable side bolsters on the passenger seat (how often are you driving from the passenger seat?), the no kick to open the trunk, etc.

Just a quick autotrader search pulls up 17 vehicles with less than 30k miles for approximately the same price. Does your state offer a tax break if you trade in, e.g., you only pay sales tax on the difference between your trade value & the sales price of the new vehicle?

Thanks for this. The vehicles you see aren’t including thousands in random dealer fees. This is 40k cash w just typical taxes reg

I purchased it for a great deal. I see them going for 61k on cargurus w same mileage as mine. I could def get at least that much especially for my color combo etc
