So dope. I think this is the route I will be going with as well. Did you have to do any coding to make the hardware work?

From what I remember from the F30, everything should be plug and play. Just unplug the battery when messing with the steering wheel as you have to unplug the airbag to install the paddles.

I just finished the CF interior upgrade yesterday. All parts purchased from my local dealer. The dash and trim kit cost me 1150 cad.

Also have the cf steering wheel parts on order with a cost of 1100 cad. So all said and done about 2200 bucks Canadian for all of the carbon fiber interior bits.

No coding is required.

Side note. My cf pieces are more of a dull finished vs OP. From the pictures the cf looks glossy. Also my interior trim kit came with the black alcantara knee pieces.

I bought the M-Performance kit. My ambient lighting did not work on the front dash, footwells or cup holders. Took it off and reinstalled the old one and everything worked. Called my service manager and he said it needed to be coded. WTH makes no sense. I hope I did not get a bad m-performance panel. You can see the fiber optic cable in it. Your looks very nice. Other wise I love mine as well. My appt is Tuesday so we will see what the outcome is.

Yes, I had to get it coded by the dealer to my car for some reason. Most people it was just plug and play.

How much was it to get coded? My light went out in my right tweeter so I bought the replacement part and still didn't work so I was also told It had to be coded by dealer for a few hundred $$.

It was free to get mine coded. My car was not a month old and I have a great relationship with my Service Manager. I would just try to talk to them and say you heard that their are a lot of problems with them per people on the forums. Or see if they will do it on a good faith repair. I still don't know how they coded it and it worked and some people say it is a defective part.

Does anyone know exactly what needs to be coded? I installed mine today and the dash does not light. I don't understand what would need to be coded, there is not brains on the panel, just LEDs. Maybe they are lin and bus needds to be reactivated or something.

What exactly is the "center edge" trim? Is that the knee pad area? I thought those were leather on the G80s. I added the black leather with gray stitching knee pads to my car. I've debated doing the G80 CF mods (don't want "M Performance" logos in my car) but the price is insanity for what it is, so I'm indifferent.

How
Much did they charge to code it?

The LED lights need to be “addressed”. It’s essentially an initialization so the control unit knows how many and where they are essentially. It is required when replacing LED interior lighting.

Note for anyone that stumbles on this thread like I did, coding doesn't always seem to be necessary for the ambient lighting effects to function correctly. I swapped the carbon dash piece from a 22' M4 in to my 20' M340 and it worked with no coding required. I was on the latest software update at this time.
