X Delete?

Anyone installed X Delete on their E and F series?

The one that disconnects X Drive with software ...

Wondering if they'll ever decode X Delete for G series ...

Any ideas?

Theyīre working on it.
Seems like itīs not that easy for the G series compared to E and F series.

xDelete just tells the car to always open the front VTG like when the engine is stopped.

Did it cause any premature failures in the E and F cars?

There were some reports about bricked VTG ECUs but that was fixable with the correct software and skills.
As the xDrive isnīt always on, i donīt see big potential for failures or extended wear.
The front VTG is connected to the rear with a lamella coupling / multi-plate clutch (i donīt know the correct word).
xDelete just tells the front VTG to leave the coupling / clutch completely open just like the car would do at high speeds.

this is another topic in itself, but is there a way to see how much 4WD is being applied at any moment? eg an app showing live solenoid voltage etc?

You can see this on the FLEXRAY, but i donīt know how to connect that and read the xDrive data.
Maybe thereīs something in ISTA oder INPA that can read this information through the ZGW.

I have logged front axle torque with ProTool. It can log both set point and actual. It says the unit is Nm but I don't know how to understand the amount in relation to the rear, since the engine torque is multiplied by the gearbox. Example from an easy drive with good grip. As expected
the front is mostly disconnected:

You can use the all-wheel drive disconnect on the G series using the android app "eXtratool" - it's been working for over a year now.

Ok, well from my understanding that is quite dangerous and can damage the VTG/transfer case.

I have spoken of this in another thread. In speaking with xAutomotive (who make xdelete and xhp), and I mentioned this.

They said it is not recommended to drive around with this short-term disabling because the VTG clutches are not in the position to use the car as RWD. This would be the same to pull the fuse of the VTG where it jumps into emergency RWD mode but driving or drifting in this mode can easily lead to damage.

xAutomotive having been doing a lot of work on the xdelete for the G20 and to do it properly and safely.

Their software will also show wear and use of the VTG including temps etc. So you can monitor it and see the wear.

They have told me it will be released soon (within months).

Did you think anyone would have nice things to say about the competition? - That's ridiculous.

It's up to you to use it or not, but I know cars that have been using these apps for over a year now to disable all-wheel drive and have burned more than one set of tires.

Itīs no secret that eXtratool is just using a service routine to disable the VTG and that itīs some kind of limp mode.
Yeah you can drive around with it, but itīs not daily safe.
You need to disable xDrive with eXtratool after every engine start.
xDelete by xAutomotive will stay disabled even after a new engine start.

I donīt need xAutomotive to understand that the eXtratool method isnīt the best.

Btw a shop from india is also claiming to have an app that can disable xDrive.
Probably the same service routine that eXtratool is using.
