Poll: *Debadge vs Black Badges vs Chrome vs Other*

Curious to know how many of you have de-badged your emblems, changed them to black (gloss or matte), keep the OEM chrome ones, or went a different direction altogether (cerium, custom, etc).

Would love to hear from you and post pics of your rides or examples if you can! Thanks all

I'm pro-badging, and I converted my G26 to a Euro spec with the M fender badges and painted reflectors because, to me, that's how BMW's designers originally intended it.

I went with chrome because that's what's standard in Europe, it coordinates with the chrome badges on the trunk, and looks great against the polished wheels. Shadowline is excellent, but sometimes too much of a good thing, you know?

As for the stigma, there was a time when M meant "M3" and those days are over, we've got the M340 now, we've got the M440 now we've got 330 and 430 M-Sport having significant upgrades now, it's okay to embrace the emblems. The cars have earned them.

I've left my 330i MSport shadowline completely stock, though have vaguely thought about gloss black lettering on the boot lid. I don't care enough to do it. My car came with the M badges on the wings (fenders) and we don't suffer from the side reflectors over here in Oz.

Years ago when I had E36s in the UK (three in a row) I had my then top-of-the-range 328i delivered with no badges. The dealer couldn't believe it, he said only people with 316i or 318i cars got them debadged. I loved the fact that other people would assume it was a 4-cylinder and then get left for dead. The only real give-away was the twin-outlet exhaust ... I was young and foolish.

Previous Black 2018 440iGC - Totally De-Badged.

Current Back 2020 M340i - Blackout Badge for 'M340i' and De-Badge 'XDrive'

My personal taste is that the Blackout Badges look slick on a black car. But I don't care for the Blackout Badged on some car color. I would leave the OEM or De-Badge.

Removed all emblems & added an "M"
Grille for a little contrast.

Thank you The rear spoiler is from Ikon Motorsports - pre-painted, the gloss black rear diffuser panel & front lip/splitter also from Ikon. I've since removed the front splitter as I've had 3 destroyed by road debris or kicked up tire treads (I drive 500 mi round trip every weekend). The side skirts are BMW MPerformance.

Lol... you went through 3 front lips already?!? Wow I thought about getting one and have been shopping around but have this exact concern. I may have to rethink this purchase. Are you lowered or is that stock height?

I love the painted rear spoiler btw

I debadged my m340i and get questioned all the time from other owners. I love the clean look of debadging and I don’t care if people don’t know what model it is.

Until I get an M3, the m-lite badge or model is not relevant at all imo

Stock height. I travel I35 from Austin - Dallas & back every weekend. The interstate is basically a junk yard of road debris the entire way and full of either 18-wheelers or good ole' Texas pick-up trucks traveling 100 mph. I got hit with nearly a full discarded tread on one occasion that resulted in almost $5k in damage (new headlight, fog light, front grilles, front splitter & replacing the paint protection film).

I actually have a BMW MPerformance front splitter that I removed after it got hit the the last time. It's not damaged because it's covered in ppf, but I didn't want to risk it. So technically that's 4 front splitters.

So at the time when you’ve got the M3 you will have that M3 badge kept on the car and won’t love the clean look anymore. Okay..

If I have M3 money, I’m still not getting one

Like I said, unless you have an M3, badge is irrelevant.

Move along

Went with gloss black badge on mine.

After adding the AWE exhaust with the black tips, black license plate and black lip, the chrome badge was a major eye sore.

I also didn't want to debadge as I didn't want any confusion or attempt to make it seem like I had anything else than what I have. Heres how it looks:

Looking good. I really like the black badges, adds a nice touch to all the gloss black trim pieces
