My local gun store is swamped

I went to my local gun store to pickup some ammunition for target practice and it was nuts there. At least 20 people online waiting to buy guns they no longer had in stock.

Guy told me they had Mossbergs up the wazoo a few weeks ago and now there's a nationwide shortage. Crazy

In their times of crisis, Italians sing together. In our times of crisis, Americans hoard toilet paper and guns.

I heard gun and ammo sales were up. People fighting over toilet paper and bottled water. In the midst of people panicking and overreacting I have also seen numerous acts of kindness. Calamities bring out the worst and the best in people. I’m a respiratory therapist so I’m on the front line of the Corona madness.......

I know this isn't a gun forum, but I find it comical that many on the left, that believe there are loopholes in the purchasing process, or that just anybody can buy a gun easier than a book, are finding that isn't the case. I heard many Californians have gone to buy a gun and couldn't just take it, or have it sent to their homes due to the laws they believed for years, didn't exist.

This entire situation may wake up some of the unknowing, and hopefully they'll know better when stupid laws are trying to be passed.

Hey I live in NJ ranked #3 in gun laws. It's a paperwork and approval process to buy a gun. Not a big deal if I really want a gun for hunting or target shooting, etc. Have a bunch of friends that have them for those purposes. Or I can just drive 15 minutes to Camden and buy a gun for cash right on the streets.

Overwhelming odds are that that gun is brand new and originated from a straw sale in Ohio where apparently it's easy to buy many guns. Then drive them to NJ for quick cash. Most of the crime guns in NJ are traced by our NJ State Police back to straw sales in Ohio.

You won't read complaints in other states about crime guns traced back to straw gun sales originating in NJ. If all states had stricter gun laws everyone who qualified could still get a gun for hunting or target shooting. But the availability of straw crime guns would dry right up.

I've got friends who are local cops who never know when someone is going to pull one of those damn Ohio straw guns on them. A cops job is tough enough. They and their families should not have to risk their lives more just because Ohio has lax gun laws that allow easy straw sales. It really pisses me off. The solution is so damn easy!

No one I know in California has a problem with the gun laws here. I only know fellow responsible gun owners who are fine with waiting a few days to have a proper background check done.

The last thing I want is for a bunch of panicking idiots being able to take a gun home on a whim.

I wasn't trying to be political or macho with the thread lol. Secondly, please feel free to move this to the off topic discussion board, I didn't know how to get to that to post in there.

Anyway, I just found it very interesting, almost disturbing, that people who look like they've never even seen a real gun with their own eyes were there to buy one now that this whole thing is going on.

Yeah it's been a bit concerning to see, but also expected. The usual 2A pundits keep posting photos of their arsenals saying they will have no issues finding toilet paper.

It doesn't take much to convince Americans into thinking they all need a concealed carry license - I also find it very alarming - and unnecessary to say the least. If not dumb.

Nobody ever lost a buck by underestimating the intelligence of the average American. None of the vets I know who were in country are gun nuts. We may have guns, I have a pistol, shotgun and rifle, but we're not fanatics. They mostly seem to be Rambo wannabees who've never even been overseas, let alone under fire.

RIGHT!

I grew up around guns - most my family did and does hunt quite a bit. Always have - on farm land. None of them carry them around for protection

I guess Americans are clinging to guns & toilet paper nowadays when times are tough.

These are people who have no control of their own lives. They fantasize about a world where they're no longer the losers since they will have guns. Meanwhile responsible gun owners don't advertise to the whole world that they have guns.
