Is there a cost for installation at port on top of the parts price?

My status is still listed as Ready for Transport, so unless the update is delayed, I doubt mine is on there.

Status just updated to "In Transit". According to BMW Genius it is on the Gemini Leader due in Port Hueneme Aug 27.

I just moved to "scheduled for production." Did the F12 thing but doesn't show anything for prod date. Maybe that won't populate until the actual date gets closer? Anyone have thoughts on that?

I think you need a VIN already assigned for this. Did yours already get assigned a VIN?

Also, Badge, I see you’re in the Chicagoland area. Me as well. Which dealer had a Sept allocation? Congrats on the car, here’s to a speedy and save delivery!

Congrats! Mine still shows RFT unfortunately. I flipped to RFT only 4 days after you so I was hoping I was on Gemini Leader as well but looks like maybe I missed it. Still crossing fingers.

Also, interestingly Port of Hueneme website shows they expect Gemini Leader to arrive today…not sure how that reconciles with your 8/27 date…but assume it probably takes some time to unload.

Congrats to you too! I would be going crazy checking for updates at that stage. Hopefully transit is quick for yours. In the meantime you can look at all ways your going to spend more money on it as soon as it arrives lol - I've got a list going!

No VIN yet - I assume I would see that when I log in to the My BMW site if it was assigned?

I ordered from Knauz in Lake Bluff. They were the only ones within 50 miles of me that had an M340 on the lot to test drive (for like 3 days!), and it just so happened that they had the Sept allocation and offered a better discount than any other dealer I talked to.

Interesting, if you track the Gemini Leader online for example at marine traffic (https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais...:GEMINI_LEADER) it shows the destination as Long Beach. BMW Genius gave me the 8/27 date. Maybe that is when it will arrive at the VPC.

Correct on the VIN.

And nice on the order! Here’s to hoping the midwest deliveries aren’t getting a nasty delay.

I just ordered an almost fully loaded 2024 M340i X Drive with Portimao blue and Tacora Red Vernasca leather, complete with M performance Exhaust from the factory and I cannot wait for it to come! I am switching from an Alfa Romeo Giulia which I loved but my lease is up and I want something with more power and excitement.

The only option - for now - that I do not have added is the Tire and wheel cooling package as I will not be taking this to a track as there are none anywhere near me. I am debating cutting out some other options as well depending on what y'all think...

QUESTIONS:

Is the spare tire worth the $250? I opted for the staggered all-season run-flats which I heard will be Bridgestone Turanza's. If I go this route I may just sell these Turanza's and purchase Michelin Pilot's.

Is it worth keeping the staggered A/S RFT for the back end traction or just going with a squared Performance tire and getting a set of winter tires?

Is spending $350 on a Sensatec dashboard worth it?

Is $250 for the power tailgate a waste of money?

Is vernasca leather worth the $1,500 or should I downgrade to the regular leatherette Tacora red

I was debating foregoing at least one if not all of these options to free up some money to throw it in the tire and wheel insurance since I'll be getting the 19" rims.

Thank you in advance for the help and suggestions.

I don't have much opinion on most of those options - I chose many of the same as well. The only one I would recommend looking further into is the spare tire:

https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1645207

It takes up a decent amout of space in the truck. For what it's worth, I ordered with the spare as well since I don't plan to buy run flats after the initial set wears out.

I was under the impression that the only way to get staggered tires is with the cooling and tire package

I believe performance run flats are staggered. One consideration is if you don’t get the performance tires, you will have the speed limited to 130 MPH instead of the 155 MPH. I don’t plan on hitting those speeds but fundamentally don’t like having a speed limiter on a performance sports sedan.

Unless that is something new for 2024, otherwise, you can get staggered performance (summer) RFT for either RWD or X drive.

I would avoid squared AS RFT at all cost as 225 on M340i should never be allowed from the factory to begin with.

Cooling package will give you PS4S, which is non RFT summer tires which requires you to either get spare or fix a flat kit (depends on MY).

Also the $250 power tailgate is one of the most useful features on my car. Unless you are one of the few lucky ones that never have to go buy grocery, otherwise you will find it very useful.

Getting RFT and spare is redundant. You either go with PS4s with spare or RFT without.

PS, i just realized i replied to the wrong person. But info is the same
