I suspect that very few G20s will be ordered without ZCV (convenience package) So most of them will have the upgraded LED headlight.

For one thing a LASER can produce a different/broader spectrum of light (as compared to other technologies) that the human eye sees as making things more visible. People who try and take a simple measurement to compare brightness are completely missing this very important fact.

Last I checked, the middle option (adaptive LED) did not have the BMW Selective Beam feature mention in the configurator, i.e. the high-beam is either on or off. It's been a while though.

Also, if I remember correctly, there was a mention of adaptive beam width/length that changes depending on the speed. On low speed, beam should become wider and shorter, and for highway driving it becomes longer and narrower. (I'm not sure about this part. It might be from a different light setup) Selective beam, and "shadowing" of oncoming traffic is reserved only for the top spec Led+Laser lights. Last edited by Calamari; 01-07-2019 at 11:49 AM.. |

I am fully aware of all the different aspects that influence actual quality of light projected on the road. I am just curious about the actual numbers for these systems.

Question: Looks like 5A4 is the "LED headlights with Cornering Lights". 5A4 is part of ZCV (Convenience) and ZMP (M Sport).
I'm assuming that if you do not have 5A4, you have the "default" non-adaptive LED's? If you have 5A4, you have the adaptive LED's? |

Would be great to see a comparison with them turned on, both from inside and outside of the car. I imagine they all look very similar from a short distance whilst turned off. Hard to justify any upgrade without this.

laser can do a ton of things, its used in thousands of applications. the real question, is what did BMW do to make laser better than Led?
categories what did they do improvement from led what is lost for not having laser lifespan reliability cost if its just " cause you can say you have laser", and no actual benefits, than meh. again, people are looking for what is actually being sold, not what could be sold if bmw made that
