Prevention of carbon build up

Since I’m intending to keep the car long term, wondering what people’s approaches have been with direct injected cars like ours. Seems like the solutions are oil catch cans (although seems like the b46/48 may have some integrated unit in place) or having them cleaned out at 50-60k miles. No idea what that costs but sounds pricey. Anyone out there with more technical knowledge than me know?

GF-6 oil takes care of it. Catch cans are a gimmick.

You might find this thread discussion helpful (link below), as well as those linked in some of the posts. There seems to be consensus that the N54 engine required the most maintenance related to carbon buildup. Since the B58 engine has the exhaust manifold integrated into the head, it would be interesting to know how a walnut media blasting technique would be done. It would be awful to know that the entire cylinder head must be removed, but I somehow doubt that's necessary to reach the valves.
