I hate when they bring tuned cars... basically makes the race meaningless. This is a stage2 tuned M3 vs. a stock M340i, results are pretty obvious without even watching.

Tuned or not, the 340 has no chance once you pass the launch stage...
Two totally different cars.
It's been shown before that 340Xdrive beats the F80 off the line, however, 30/40mph start -- no chance...

Sure, I just meant as a general statement, when they bring in tuned cars you're no longer comparing cars, you're comparing tunes.

One of my favorite drag races was the one between completely stock M340i vs. S4 vs. E53 vs. S60 Polestar because it showed how significantly quicker the M340i is than its competition (although you can argue the E53 isn't competition to the 3 series). If any one of those cars had been tuned, the race just becomes meaningless.

C43 should have been a part of that race...not sure why they took the E53?

Throttle house has one coming out of the M340i vs S4 vs C43AMG. That's the one I'm so looking forward to.

The carwow video proves that the M340i is the drag race beast. A tuned M3 (even if it's a stage 1 (not sure what stage the one in the video is)) is only 0.3s faster than a stock M340i when doing quarter mile runs. Rolling races are a different story but I love my quarter mile drags Makes me appreciate the M340i even more.

You are comparing the F80 and G20
Let’s see the G80 vs g20.
It was always the case with the previous gen M vs next gen 335/340...

True. But then, the G80 better be much faster than the M340i. Plus an AWD G80. That should, ideally, have the AMG C63S and RS5 for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Forget the M340i.

The way I see it. It’s either an M340i or an F80 M3 for $xxxxx. So those are the two cars I’ll be comparing. That’s just me though

Stock F80CP = 444hp, M340i = 374hp; regardless of the circa 70hp disadvantage the M340i has proven to 'clean up' the F80 from standstill up to alot more than the legal highway limit and the quarter mile times are very comparable too. In real life situations F80 owners are going to be nervous when they pull up against a M340i, unless they are on a racetrack or runway that is..

The 500hp+ "m3" touring only comes past at over 100mph so for most people the 340i is quicker, a standard m3 with 425bhp would be neck and neck on the line.

The M440i has just been figured by Carwow at 3.8 to 60mph the gaps in terms of real world performance are narrowing to the point of irrelevance.

this comparison is kinda senseless. my stage 2 tuned g20 would destroy that f80 swap.
and a tuned g80 would destroy me... this review leads the same logic
