Thanks for the update.

It's really outrageous that Bmw just does that.
So now we are forced to tune the car or install a new exhaust and/or downpipe to get some decent sound again...

Maybe we can send the bill to BMW... :

Read the previous posts in the thread. It isn't BMW. It's new EU laws requiring cars to be quieter so they don't "cause stress" to the delicate portion of the population.

I know that it's the EU, I live here
Bmw could at least inform the people about the impact of the update.

I agree, we should confirm that we agree with update, like is on phone. Car is no longer property of BMW so is up to us if we want to take update or not.

It doesn't sit right with me that they can change a car like that after it has been bought and paid for. There should be an option to roll back changes like that.

Is it even possible to remedy this in the aftermarket? It sounds like the engine management software controls these pops and burbles.

As I understand it, it's the ECU that manages the pops and burbles by releasing an unburnt fuel mix into the exhaust manifold. If this is correct, it means you would be able to fix it with an ECU tune, but O guess that would indeed make you lose warranty, as OP mentioned.

Hey, I am new to the forum and also disappointed with the loss of the exhaust pops and also sport+ mode.

I have just purchased a BMW 320i M-Sport (Dec 2019 build) and the car does not have sport+ mode and also zero exhaust pops.

I previously had a BMW 320i M-Sport (July 2019 build) on a short lease and it had sport+ mode and sounded amazing with the exhaust pops :-(

I was getting Sport+ mode and pops/burbles in my first G20 320i M Sport which was manufactured in July 2019.

I spoke to BMW and they said Sport+ was removed from G20 320i as part of the recent built, they also changed the exhaust, so no pops. Talking EU here, as obviously 320i is only available in Europe.

They did state that the Sport+ mode does come in the 330i in the UK, but not sure how true that is.

Thanks to BMW's inability to deliver a remote upgrade, I'm still running 03/2019.48 on my July 19 delivery 330i M, and even though my car play is sketchy and it occasionally drops HUD settings, I'm reluctant to take it in to the dealer to get it updated if I'll lose the burbles and pops!

I'll say they were more prominent when I switched to premium fuel (UK Tesco Momentum 99) early after delivery too!

Will try to just reset iDrive in the meantime.
I am not sure if you fixed this or not but i had the same issue. It stopped working on Nov 14th. I had numerous calls and visits into BMW and the service center with no fix. Finally got in touch with an 3rd level support (I think) and they fixed it. Apparently Connected Drive sometimes gets stuck. To fix it hold down the power button for the headuniit for about 2 minutes. It would go off and on a few times before it truly resets. That worked for me and I do it once in a while when to fix a blank screen on the the weather or news app.

We started a discussion about this topic in our german forum at www.g20-forum.de (https://www.g20-forum.de/index.php?t...-sounddesigns/) and we will write a letter to the board of BMW and the CEO of the M GmbH in munich. We are already 13 people who sign this letter with our VIN to contruibute.

If you own a M340i or a 330i and want to make a statement and contribute you're more than welcome to do so.

Can anybody who's having issues check if their exhaust flap opens in sport mode?

I'm on 11/2019 and mine will not open for love nor money.

I've just done a 30 minute drive on the motorway doing 70mph with a hoon at the end and its still not open when I pull up.

Noticed the car was quieter after the update to 11/2019

The pops and burbles are also removed/reduced for true M cars. The EU is turning into the EUSSR.
