German online websites are speculating that maybe BMW will offer the M440i in other markets as well, as the 4 is more performance-oriented and drivers might appreciate the lower weight. No real sources though I think, just speculation.

Interesting, my take was that BMW was considering killing the rwd model all together. Tho I doubt they would do that as they have invested in the development and actually building them is a small incremental cost per unit built compared to the engineering, software coding, testing.

No point of releasing a purist version if nobody is going to buy the ugly standard car.

I wish they'd push production off forever. No one should have to look at that thing driving around

They’d be better off canceling it and coming up with different styling. First step should be firing the designers and marketing team.

Thanks as always for the info, any indication that this may mean rwd model is in jeapordy overall?

I always thought it was unusual that m340 rwd is only available in very few markets and the rwd piece of the pie on an even lower volume m440 might put the ongoing business case at risk.... especially with the rwd M4 coming to fill the traditionalist niche

EDIT: referenced other small markets supporting m340 rwd

The RWD M340i is also available in South Korea and, I believe, other Asian countries as well.

Yes!!! Push it back, into a ditch, then fill up said ditch with concrete,

Then find the "yes-men(and women)" that sat around a table and agreed that this car was ...well what ever it is... and fire them...or at least reassign them!!!

If you remove the M440i symbol, I would have bet money that the rear/tail lights was a Lexus (IS or RC)..

...If I was to go ZF8 I would go for the RWD 440i, now My earliest buy would be March....... SO want to be excited about the G22 like I was for the E92 release... need that walk around

More likely i'm still hoping that I find passion in the G82 visually once I can walk around it and can order a S58-6MT ....

Does anyone among the throngs of complainers here understand that the rear wheel drive M440i is the purest enthusiast version of G22 and that without it there will simply be more cookie cutter 430i's on the road?
