M340ix Now or Later

I've been looking at the M340 for a while and I know the LCI models are about to come out soon. should I pull the trigger now or will the LCI models be worth the wait?

Can you define "soon?" I'm pretty sure 2020 was the first model year of the G20 M340. LCI seems to be a couple years out at least, but others may know more.

LCI won’t be out until the 2023 model year.

Maybe i'm wrong but i think the m340 was released in Europe as a 2019 before coming here. Keeping in line with prior BMW LCI timelines, face lifted G20's should arrive as 2022 models (arriving Fall of 2021)

Probably will judging by what the 2021 M3 sedan looks like.

There will always be a reason to delay and even then, you often miss out on new tweaks. My G21 was built in March so fairly new for the G21 - I didn’t want one of the first of the production line as been there before!

Since my car was built, the new iPhone CarKey has come out along with traffic light recognition.

I think you just have to say, does this car have all the key things I want and go for it.

Same here. I also can't see BMW launching the brand new G80 in the same year as the LCI G20 (the G80 would be launching with a pre-LCI interior and rear tail lights...I just don't see it happening).

True, no matter how long I wait there will always be something new the next year that I won't have.

I think now is the time. The looks aren't confirmed for the LCI but I can't imagine there will be any large upgrades that will make the new one a "have to have it" type of car.

The current model already drives good, looks good, has all the latest tech and basically has been built long enough for manufacturing to be reliable. Also deals can most likely be had right now for some good discounts.

The 2019 model year lasted less than six months. The 2006 model year lasted almost 18 months. The 2020 model year for the G20 was the first full year of production. 2020, 2021, 2022. LCI 2023, 2024, 2025. That’s my prediction. I’ll be very surprised if next fall brings an LCI 2022 model.

It won't, the BIG grills are for the M3/M4 cars and the G22 which BMW wanted to differentiate from the G20 by giving a bold/aggressive look as they claimed. This is a good thing for us, G22 is hideous in my opinion, the M cars grills looks better. Still G20 grills are the best of the 3 currently.

I bet the LCI is a a couple years off and I'd be surprised if there were dramatic changes to the aesthetic of the car. You can get yourself into a perpetual cycle of always waiting for the updated/"better" version (I've been there!), but at some point you need to pull the trigger. The M340i is a great ride and I highly recommend it.

The only thing that gave me pause about buying a 2021 was the lack of M-Sport seats.

I agree with everybody else though the LCI likely isn’t going to debut until 2023.

I believe e90 came out as the 2005 model in EU. I got mine february 2006 in the US.
My 2015 F30 was not LCI

BMW usually have for 3 series 7 year period between models and after 4 year they make facelift

G20 was presented in October 2018 and available for sale in March 2019.
That mean face lift will start to sale from beginning of year 2023.
