BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Incredibly nice work by BMW on this platform. The fit and finish is unparalleled when compared to earlier works. Wheels are 19" M Double-spoke jet black wheels, style 791M.

Admin edit: added Sapphire Black G20 M Sport.

Nice car. When the Germans get pissed, they do make an effort.

How is handling and steering?

Unfortunately just caught that one on the showroom floor, so didn’t really get an idea other than aesthetics, but you could definitely tell they were fine tuning and practicing some mastery with this design. Thought the M Sport steering wheel in my 340i was as good as it gets but that one is just incredible. In some ways makes the older models feel... Toy like. Hard to explain but they really brought the design and feel of the car up to modern standards and like you say there (haha) you can definitely sense there is some passion in the design. Will be an awesome upcoming platform can already tell. Really buttoned up well, I bet they will be a blast to drive.

theres a bunch more torque in the new B48 making it an even more useable engine than the one you just got out of. see if theyll let you drive one if youre still there

Is the trim piece of that M sport steering wheel aluminum or plastic? Can't wait to drive one!

How was the feel of the materials particularly the sides of center console and door tops and dash? Any hard plastic? Is the soft touch material well padded/squishy feeling? How would you say the fit/finish compared to the g30 5 series?

One thing I really like: No piano black plastic. That trend has got to die.

One thing I hate: Faking analogue gauges.

Absolutely. Totally worth the time to. It was really impressive. That is where I go for service. Not bad scenery up there that is for sure.

Overall impressions were of high quality, the whole interior just and the car felt very "firm" and sporty. Hard to explain, but gripping the steering wheel even just sitting there, you could sense it would be a fun car. The whole interior felt very cohesive and well put together. Materials wise I should have looked more into it. But initial impressions were very positive. It made F30 and E90 interiors seem a bit cheaper and rough around the edges, that is for sure. Only variable I didn't really look a lot into was material, will have to stop by again soon.

Probably not my favorite either, but can understand their departure from the analog world. Can't have the platform looking dated 7 years down the line.

It’s a shame this car isn’t on display at the Chicago Auto Show. Sounds like it would have made a really positive impression. BMW and Mercedes both pulled out of the Detroit and the Chicago auto shows.

So how would you call the material around the shifter?

If you take the Live Cockpit Plus you still get the analog gauges. Prob is that when choosing the Harman Kardon sound system you have to upgrade to the Live Cockpit Professional.

Thanks for sharing the pictures. Do you have a side view where the Jetblack wheels are clearly visible? We want to go for mineral white but aren’t sure about the Jetblack wheels.

I do not unfortunately, there was a big pillar in the way. May be back over there today, if I am will snag a photo!

If it were me personally, I would probably opt for more traditional alloy wheels. But that is all such a matter of taste.

Just fyi, you probably already know, but this one was Alpine White, I believe.

Really. This is new to me. So it is possible to get a G20 with actual physical guages?

Added photos above (first post) showing the black wheels in better detail.

lookin sharp! I would have picked black too but after seeing this, specifically the rear, maybe the dark grey would suit better with those dark tinted upper tail lights.

Also the base headlights look fantastic!

I went the black wheel route and realized that I really don't like black wheels - this doesn't look good imo

The ole "turn the wheel" to appear lower. Not bad looking for a "5" need to read more concerning handling, steering feedback. Looks are subjective so I'll leave it @ that....
